OK-my last attempt to offer a “new” baby name did not go down well, but I’m sure you’ll like this one....

..Ds’s mates are round for band practice- and the new drummer is..Ivo.

I know an Ivo who must be well over 60 and I know of another one who's in his mid-teens now. Neither is an Etonian nor particularly posh. I like it.

I went to the school mentioned up thread so it's a no for me even though I like the sound. The school is in St Ives, named for St Ivo

Ivo is a main character in a Georgette Heyer (Regency romance) novel, 'Bath Tangle'. Does that make you warm to the name more, or put you off? Grin

I'm not sure on the name Ivo but for the past 38 years, I've been crazy about an Australian musician/ singer/ songwriter, Member of the Order of Australia (AM) known as Ivor Arthur Davies. He's better known IVA Davies from the band Icehouse.

Apparently, Ivor's name was misheard and his professional name of Iva was born.
I personally love it. Have a think about it OP. If anything, your child would have a pretty impressive namesake.

The Ivo is a high school in Cambridgeshire, so it’s a no from me! If you lived far away from Cambs then you could probably get away with it.

Bertrand, how about Darrell as a name for reviving? To freshen it, you could use Darrell or Daryl as a spelling, and if it's Darrell, opt for
Dar-RELL as the pronunciation.

I love Ivo. It would certainly be on our list if it didn't clash with our surname.

You'd be better off choosing an Italian name, Lorenzo or Giovanni or something, if you are British. Leave the John and Henry type names to the Italians.

Well, I prefer the British “Cl-eye-vo. But some people like the Italian “cl-ee-vo. That sounds a bit pretentious to me for an. English speaking family....
