Thoughts on Nevaeh?

Hi, We’re expecting our 5th in June and DH recently suggested the name Nevaeh after hearing it at work, we both really like it but we looked more into it. Just so we could find the correct spelling and a middle name to go with it.

I’m not too keen on the fact it’s spelt heaven backwards, I don’t know why I’m just not. What are you thoughts? Also if you have a middle name idea please put it below so far we have;
•Nevaeh Penelope
•Nevaeh Elizabeth
•Nevaeh Imogen and
•Nevaeh Evelyn

If not what other suggestions do you have, Siblings names are;

•Willow Savannah
•Elijah Joseph
•Isabelle Olivia and
•Lydia Catherine

Thank you.- Tyler.

What about the more classic but similar sounding:

Neve (as in Neve Campbell?)

Niamh (the "proper" spelling, which is Irish, pronounced as above)

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 15/04/2019 20:24

@Hollowvictory

No not at all like Nivea.

It's from the Roman family name Naevius, the female variant given in the family was Naevia.

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 15/04/2019 19:52

I had a naevus next to my nose, so when I went to get it removed, ingested the smell of burning flesh straight up my nostrils!

bridgetreilly · 15/04/2019 18:49

I always think of a Naevus, which is a kind of skin mole, so no.

TrixieFranklin · 15/04/2019 18:14

@TatianaLarina I agree completely, I only know how it's pronounced because it was once used on 'Teen Mom' which was one of my fav shows when I was younger BlushGrin

RaininSummer · 15/04/2019 17:58

Never seen that name and I don't know how it is pronounced. Not keen.

JustAnotherMNUserPassing · 15/04/2019 17:53

How about switching and having it as a middle name?

Penelope Nevaeh sounds quite nice imo Grin

mimibunz · 15/04/2019 17:51

Rewolf Grin

TatianaLarina · 15/04/2019 17:46

I thought it was the world's worst misspelling of Niamh

So did I.

TatianaLarina · 15/04/2019 17:46

Na-Vey-Ah.

How did you get that from Nevaeh? The letters aren’t in the right order.

I get: Nev a ay or at a big pinch Neve a ay.

Or - Nev a or Nev ee as in anaesthetic or aesthete.

StCharlotte · 15/04/2019 17:24

When I first saw it, I thought it was the world's worst misspelling of Niamh.

So it's a no from me. Sorry.

But I loved a PP's suggestion of Nerissa.

SoupDragon · 15/04/2019 17:24

I'm not sure why people keep suggesting Niamh as an alternative, other than that they contain two similar sounds.

Perhaps because the OP has clearly stated it's the sound of the name they like but don't like the "heaven backwards" thing.

GoFiguire · 15/04/2019 17:14

Tpewsusej

It means Jesus Wept backwards.

MarthasGinYard · 15/04/2019 17:14

'Nivea?' Grin

Or Eavin

Or Astral

Or Lartsa

MarthasGinYard · 15/04/2019 17:12

'Niamh'

I don't understand this suggestion

A classic Irish name

The OP's choice Heaven spelt backwards

Awful

GiantPretzel · 15/04/2019 17:11

I mean, it's like someone saying 'If I like Khaleesi, what else will I like?' and Mn chorusing 'Elizabeth!' Grin

GiantPretzel · 15/04/2019 17:10

I'm not sure why people keep suggesting Niamh as an alternative, other than that they contain two similar sounds.

Niamh is an unfashionable but fairly dateless Irish classic, along the lines of Jane, Anna etc, and Nevaeh, with the best will in the world, is gimmicky.

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 15/04/2019 17:09

NC fail. Blush

Hollowvictory · 15/04/2019 17:09

Nivea?

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 15/04/2019 17:07

@Hollowvictory

No it's not the same as Navy. Think the ending of Olivia. Switch the Oliv for Nay. Nay-vee-ah.

And no it's not a made up name, before anyone asks. Smile

Karenjane124 · 15/04/2019 15:48

Daedsidog definitely
God is dead backwards 👍

HopeOverAnythingElse · 15/04/2019 15:45

It's absolutely awful. Just dreadful.

Apart from the stupid backwards thing, I tend to think that calling a kid something like Heaven is a bit of a mistake.

Put it this way - I know a Blissful. And she is - well, not blissful in any way. Its hard to cart around a name that's so very obviously an unattainable oxymoron.

RubberTreePlant · 15/04/2019 15:42

No! Worst name ever.

Natalia, Neve/Niamh, Nella.

But not that made-up monstrosity.
