Why can no-one pronounce my daughter's name!?

So my baby girl is almost three months old, we named her Alyssa. Probably about 75% of people have mispronounced her name and it's really starting to get to me now! I don't want her having to go through life having to correct people all the time.
How would you pronounce Alyssa?

Only because a girl from the Philippines in my primary school had this name and pronounced it this way. I've never met another one.

Its an incredibly pretty name but if you are going to choose something unusual then you are being very unreasonable being disappointed people don't know how to pronounce it. Unless you are going to change her name you will have to get over yourself sorry! I am almost 50 and I have never met anyone with the same name as me and I have only seen my name on about 3 people in the press. I don't expect people to know how to pronounce my name, I have never been offended at people getting it wrong..in fact I have never corrected people and I don't even notice if people are getting it right or wrong now - I know they are referring to me! A huge benefit of an unusual name though is when I do spell it people remember it because its so unusual.

If you will use a name, with a spelling like that, then this is the consequence. You should have called her ann - easy.

I think it’s fairly obvious how to pronounce it. But I think a lot of the Alissia, Alicia, Elica names get confusion over how to pronounce

I knew an Alicia who pronounced it A-liss-ia. She was forever pissed off with being called Aleesha, yet that is the more common pronunciation these days, it seems.

I would say Alissa in this case, too.

This is a name that has loads of threads on here. Every parent thinks their way is the best/only way.

You need to either get used to correcting it just accept there will be variations, but mostly by people who don’t matter.

i would have thought Al-ee-sa, but seems its not that way.

I think if you want everyone to get a name right first time, then you need to choose a really common or popular one

Nobody says it like that. It's a common name. They all know how to pronounce it, it's just that they have all ganged up and decided to take piss.

Dad has a friend who has the same name but begins with an E instead of a A. It’s pronounced E-lees-a. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'd also say a (as in apple) liss a (as in apple)
I do know someone whose name is pronounced a lease a though. Not sure of spelling for that - might be Alyssa

I’d say Ah LISS ah with ah as in apple.
I might misread it as Alysha or however that is spelt.

Alicia - I have heard this pronounced A-lee-sh-a(h) and A-liss-i-a(h) so would need to check with said child first.

Ah-liss-ah, main stress on liss. Although thinking about it it's a name/child I've never taught, pretty though.
