My friend has a Rohan - she preferred that to the W spelling

I think it's a nice name - spelt either way

Waggily · 13/04/2019 09:06

I think Rowan for a boy is going to become really popular. I know three born in the last 6 months. If you’re avoiding Leo because it’s popular, you might want to have a rethink on Rowan.

mrsm43s · 12/04/2019 23:03

Is Rowan actually unisex? Or is it a boy's name that's been appropriated? I've only ever known it as a boy's name, but plenty of boys names (Aubrey, Riley, even Kelly) were originally boys names but have started to be appropriated for girls.

Not that it makes a difference really, but I'm interested as there does seem to be a trend of boys names become unisex, and then (as per Kelly) only used for girls.

But I love Rowan as a boys name :)

m0therofdragons · 12/04/2019 23:01

Love it. My boy cat is Rowan. My dc are all girls Grin

Chocmallows · 12/04/2019 22:54

Love it, but very similar to Aaron.

AvengersAssemble · 12/04/2019 22:51

I love Ronin ie Hawkeye Avengers

AloneLonelyLoner · 12/04/2019 22:44

It's a really beautiful name.

W33XXX · 12/04/2019 19:40

I have a rowan. We we always get it mispronounced as per previous poster. He's rowan as in row your boat! If I'm never going to see the people again I don't bother correcting them now. It was my older son that suggested and essentially chose the name ... he loved and still does love rowan Atkinson!

Ohhellothereladyface · 12/04/2019 19:36

Yes like it.

MikeUniformMike · 12/04/2019 19:35

Like it. Rowan Atkinson, Rowan Williams. Prefer it as a boy's name but it's ok for a girl.

Tunnockswafer · 12/04/2019 19:35

Do you say row/an (as in row your boat) or row/an (as in, I’m about to post on relationships as we’ve had a row)

Sexnotgender · 12/04/2019 19:33

Love it, was on our shortlist for DS.

Rowan Williams was our inspiration for the name.

Yogagirl123 · 12/04/2019 12:31

I love it

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 12/04/2019 12:28

Rowan is lovely, and one of the very few truly unisex names IMO.

daisypond · 12/04/2019 12:27

I don’t like for a boy. I do for a girl. I only know female Rowans in real life.

Tiramisu1 · 12/04/2019 11:38

How about
Reuben
Quentin
Ronan

riotlady · 12/04/2019 11:20

I love Rowan but I think Rowan and Aaron are a bit similar for brothers?

gauntletthrown · 12/04/2019 11:15

I love it. It was on my list but DH vetoed.

It's unisex too.

What about
Oren
Eren
Ewan

SosigDog · 12/04/2019 11:08

I think of it as a girls name. On a boy I’d probably assume it was Roan or Ronan unless I saw it written down.

Tiramisu1 · 12/04/2019 11:05

Many names are unisex, it's not a problem.

Tiramisu1 · 12/04/2019 11:04

Rowan is lovely and goes well with your other kids names.

Thebeachismyhappyplace · 12/04/2019 03:36

Go for it! It's a lovely name for a boy.
I have a 13yo DS so biased, but I think it's a strong name and suits him.
Never ever had anyone at school or otherwise pass comment that it is a girl's name, but if they did I imagine he'd have a funny come-back. It wouldn't bother him in the slightest.

PlatypusLeague · 12/04/2019 03:22

I don't really like it for a boy or a girl - don't know why. Rowan Williams doesn't help. (I do like Rowena though, for some reason).

SallyWD · 11/04/2019 23:07

Lovely name
