I know a little Miller it's a lovely name and I've honestly no idea who people are being so bloody rude - ok if you don't like it but no need for such comments as 'its horrible' and 'awful name' fgs! Hmm especially as it actually IS used as a forename and such comments are hurtful. Manners and consideration, people!!

I like (not Miller) they go by (also not Miller) which sounds like Miller Confused

Why on earth would someone want to call their child a name so they could have them go by another name because it sounds like the actual name they like 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP, I really like it. It's not too popular, but there are enough of them for it not to be 'out there' either.

Harrison, Harris, Jackson, Parker, Lewis, Mason, Chester. Just a few surnames that are now commonly used at first names. Why would Miller be any different?
I think it’s a name that works well at all ages as well.

We have a Mila in the family pronounced 'miller' so on hearing it I'd assume girl. Where I live now occupational surnames as first names are very popular - my children have been to school with children called Hunter, Cooper, Carter, Taylor, Mason, Parker, Tanner and even a Thatcher. I don't like it personally.

I think it's awful. And if you live somewhere where you wouldn't pronounce the 'r' then it just sounds like the girls' name Mila.

I have actually taught a Baker.

TBH, if your single syllable R surname happens to be an "Ri" surname (Rich, Rigg, Rind etc), I wouldn't use Miller.

'Miller Max' is a good combo. You need a plosive sound for the middle name to stop it all running together.

I think it’s lovely. You get all those saying no it’s too surnamey but that doesn’t really matter. Loads of first names are also surnames even John, Scott, Kelly, Lee, Ryan etc

No. It's a surname and the only Miller I know of gets called 'Milaaar' by his mother. Awful name.

Miller is no different to Tyler, Harris, Blake or any other traditional surname. Why not use it as a first name?

No, no, please don’t, it’s horrible. Might as well just call the kid Smith or Jones. Some surnames work, IMO Miller doesn’t.

It's not a name I would choose.
Suits a child/ teen as a nickname maybe but not an adult man imo.

Just be careful with your surname — is it likely to run together? So it'll come out as Millerobertson without a gap (or Miller Obertson) rather than Miller Robertson?
