DH & I both adore the name Brody for our little boy due very soon. Everyone we've spoken to says it's not a bad name, it's just very Hollywood. I'm trying to think if we both love this name, what other names we may like?

I love Brodie. DH has said the same and thinks it sounds too American despite it being Scottish. Last year there were 100-odd Brodie's registered in Scotland so it's definitely gaining popularity.

I prefer Brodie too.

TatianaLarina · 02/04/2019 22:02

Brody is Irish, Brodie is Scottish.

Brodie is a Scottish name. Not a "Hollywood" name (meaning someone vaguely famous is named it I assume, or that it's too "American").

It's great, you should definitely use it and sod what anyone else thinks! My kids both have surnames for first names which inevitably get a raised eyebrow on MN as being too "American" but thankfully I live in a country where names don't signify class.

I don't think Brody is Hollywood at all! It's a lovely Scottish name. It's spelt Brodie though.

CavaIsLife · 02/04/2019 21:50

Very Hollywood? Tacky. But too afraid to say

giveovermypreciousss · 02/04/2019 21:46

Use Brody. It is a lovely name.
I prefer the spelling Brodie personally.
