That and the fact you can't see your own irony had to be commented on😂😂😂

Smotheroffive · 01/04/2019 19:07

Just always wonder why posters come on threads to judge and poke at pp rather than contribute. Always strikes me as odd behaviour. 😂😂

GreatDuckCookery · 01/04/2019 18:17

Nope I’m one of the unworked Smile

rosyedith · 01/04/2019 18:15

@GreatDuckCookery @Smotheroffive I'm guessing you don't work then? Funny how you took offence to my comment even tho it wasn't aimed at any of you 😂🙈

Smotheroffive · 01/04/2019 18:02

Rosy ha ha ha...oh dear that does sound ironically akin to your own complaint !! How did you manage that ha! Grin

GreatDuckCookery · 01/04/2019 17:58

Grin nice one Rosy. Tbf there’s lots of constructive comments from many posters on this board. Maybe MN isn’t for you hun.

rosyedith · 01/04/2019 17:55

Completely agree @dave54!! You cant ask for advise/opinions without NASTY comments , it's because a lot of people on here don't work and have nothing else to do 🙄

Smotheroffive · 01/04/2019 15:31

Another only on MN!
Goady troll posts goady trolling thread, and it runs off all on its own, without any comment from OP even Grin

SilverySurfer · 01/04/2019 14:35

The bottom line is that you are asking for people's opinions on here. Don't ask if you don't want to know.

NunoGoncalves · 01/04/2019 12:21

Some people on here are unnecessarily rude, but I don't think there's any link to what they're like in real life. Maybe some of them are timid in real life, others are probably just as unnecessarily rude in real life as they are on here! Plenty of people are like that, after all!

colehawlins · 01/04/2019 11:59

It's true. Only timid people assume that others are timid IRL. In any case, giving an opinion when asked on a prospective name is totally different from giving an unsolicited opinion.

GreatDuckCookery · 01/04/2019 11:56

I’m not mousey by any stretch. If I don’t like a name I will say so. Nothing to do with being behind a keyboard!

Cbeebiesrehab · 01/04/2019 11:18

I do like the honesty of most posters but I do also think that some posters are deliberately unkind and take pleasure in it with a ‘just being honest hun’ kind of attitude when in reality, they are the mousey ones in the office being bullied to go make the tea. Keyboards are very empowering it seems.

colehawlins · 01/04/2019 10:21

Do they though? Or do they, as a previous poster suggested, criticise a name so that it doesn't become more popular?

Sorry. THIS^ is tipping into paranoia.

That’s an odd theory. I’m past the baby stage so have no ulterior motive in giving my opinion on a name.

JenniferJareau · 01/04/2019 10:10

Or do they, as a previous poster suggested, criticise a name so that it doesn't become more popular?

Personally I don't think one person on a forum could have that much power to change the popularity of a name.

Tiramisu1 · 01/04/2019 08:51

The good thing on baby names is people will outright tell you what they think

ElizabethMainwaring · 01/04/2019 08:09

OP Dave started another thread asking for opinions on the name Sarch Clemens ('for a girl'). I think it must have been some sort of in joke. Who knows.

JenniferJareau · 01/04/2019 08:04

If you ask for opinions why get upset with the answer? It can’t all be people telling you what you want to hear.

The good thing on baby names is people will outright tell you what they think. People in real life will 99% of the time be polite about that name to your face but will be thinking what they'd write on here.

MichaelMumsnet · 01/04/2019 07:46

Morning. The OP has left the building.

ArgyMargy · 01/04/2019 07:46

We should encourage more, not less, name diversity!

Why?

Cookit · 01/04/2019 07:13

I love how blunt people are on Baby Names.

If you ask for opinions why get upset with the answer? It can’t all be people telling you what you want to hear.

If you have a name and don’t want to hear negative opinions, don’t ask. If you want to know what people will actually think of the name but never say to your face, ask.

Decormad38 · 01/04/2019 03:38

Anyway the op has basically trolled as they have now vanished. Oh the irony!

Decormad38 · 01/04/2019 03:33

I’m not sure how you troll on a baby name thread. When you ask for peoples views of names you are going to get some people who like a name and dome that dislike a name and then a reason why. They are rarely being rude to you. That’s their view of ‘the name’. Trolling is a different thing altogether.
