Victoria?

Opinions on Victoria? Too old fashioned? I didn't used to like it but it's growing on me. Is too long a name (too many syllables) for a baby? Do you know many? I don't know any Victoria's younger than 27?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@GreatAuntBertha yes if Meghan & Harry use it as a first name it will be off the table lol

I know two adult Victorias who always go by their full name. I like it, beautiful name.

TheCraicDealer · 30/03/2019 12:57

Don't mind the name itself but it's one of those that always gets shortened so you'd have to be ok with the nicknames- she'd definitely get Vicky by a lot of people which I really don't like. Tori or Toria is better but still not dying about them.

Also I totally agree about the casting in Victoria! The actress who plays her is stunning. Actual Queen Victoria....not so much.

TriarFuck · 30/03/2019 12:48

Beautiful.

BlueMerchant · 30/03/2019 12:47

Victoria is lovely. Timeless and it's also much nicer than Elizabeth (although I love Eliza).

avocadochocolate · 30/03/2019 12:43

I love any classic traditional name like Victoria or Elizabeth. Or indeed Catherine. You can't go wrong with choices like these.

GreatAuntBertha · 30/03/2019 12:43

And if it makes the cut for Harry and Meghan's baby it will definitely become more popular then.

GreatAuntBertha · 30/03/2019 12:42

It's okay but I'm not overly fond of names with more than two syllables. It might get a boost from the TV show which I believe is a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.

(The actor who plays Victoria is so gorgeous, I wonder if they'd cast someone who looked like the actual Victoria whether it would have been quite so successful Wink)

AfterSchoolWorry · 30/03/2019 12:31

Sorry, I think it's a really ugly, hard sounding word.

ElizabethMainwaring · 30/03/2019 12:25

Beautiful.

Tiramisu1 · 30/03/2019 12:23

Love it! Classic and feminine. I wouldn't shorten it at all.

kaytee87 · 30/03/2019 11:51

Quite like it.
What about Katharine?

Jaz32 · 30/03/2019 11:49

Thanks for replies, I initially didn't want it because I'm not a huge fan of Vicky or Tori, however, I think they'd grow on me as the name itself has.

I love Elizabeth too and the potential shortenings for it but my husband doesn't like it 😩

I love it. A really strong name. But I probably won’t use it because I hate Vic / Vicky. Might keep for a middle name.

TeenTimesTwo · 30/03/2019 11:33

Lovely name. Timeless.
Various abbreviations:
Vic, Vicky, Tor, Toria, Queenie (as I learned a couple of days ago).
