My grandfather's name. Don't know of any others apart from Walt Whitman or Walt Disney.

A friend of a friend has a Walter. He’s a few months old. I saw the birth announcement on Facebook and fell in love. We have an Aurora however so the Disney connection was a bit too themed for us to use, sadly.

I named my beloved Bearded Collie, Wally, in reference of Walter many moons ago, i think it's a beautiful name and would consider it for my own if I had another (which I can't 😞)

My ds had a friend called William Bone.
He did indeed go by Willy Bone.

Why would you shorten Walter to anything other than Walt?

I know a 6 year old Walter, I think they shorten it to Walt. It's a good strong and interesting name.

I know a ten year old Walter. I was surprised at first, but I'm used to it now, and it really suits him. A very sweet, caring, serious chap.

I know a baby Walter/Walt - about 1 yo now I think. Is pet of the vintage granny/grandad name revival going on at the mo I guess. Not massively popular here I don't think though. Probably little more so in US.

Not my personal taste but don't actively dislike it. If you like it then go for it though!
