Opinions on my short lists...

Pretty set on these names and will be using a combo of them for first and last names. Surname ends in ‘er’.

Jude
Leo
Cassius (love, but not sure I’m brave enough)
Grayson
Fabian

Claudia
Romilly (Nn Romy)
Marley

Zara

Any suggestions for combinations?

Love Jesse and Cassius. I know a guy called Cassius (nn Cass).

Really lovely names except Grayson, Fabian and Marley.

I'm pretty sure Grayson will be heading down the same route as Jordan - Brandon - Jayden - Kayden

Fabian sounds a bit try hard or drag queen

And Marley was done to death around here as well as Harley

Your other names are really nice though.

Ruby but out of your two final names, Zara is preferable to my ear than Claudia

Jesse, Jude or Leo for boys
Effie- absolutely love this name!!! My husband wouldn't let me use it :(. Like Ruby and Zara as well

Cassius by a billion miles. It’s a beautiful name. Not keen on Arlo at all.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and opinions. I think we’ve narrowed it down to either,
Cassius Jude
Arlo Jesse or
Arlo Jude

Romilly Zara or
Claudia (still not sure of a middle name)

I’m aware a lot of my names are ‘of the moment’ but I think names have always worked like that. I have an unusual name in that I never met another until I started university and I didn’t like it one bit!

Arlo - too trendy/faddy
Jesse - love this but potential for bullying (big Jesse)
Jude - like
Leo - too popular and run of the mill now
Cassius (love, but not sure I’m brave enough) - like

Fabian - dislike

Claudia - means lame. I can't get past this.
Romilly (Nn Romy) I love love Romy, not so keen on To Billy.
Marley - really like this, cool and different on a girl
Effie - it's a bit unfinished but quite quirky. It would grow on me
Zara - not keen

Leo or Zara as first names, with something a little plainer for a middle name, than on your list. Or use Leo as a middle name with one of your others. I like Claudia, but think Claudia and Zara with a surname ending in er as well is too much.

I'm afraid none of your girls' names are my thing. Zara Claudia is OK. Marley is beyond dreadful for a girl.

Your taste is very 'of the moment' - very 'second-tier popular' names that'll probably date, if that matters to you. Especially Romilly, Effie and Arlo.

Leo Cassius or Leo Fabian. Use Cassius in the middle if you like it but feel unsure as a first name.

I like several on your girl's list: Claudia, Romilly, Zara, Margot and Ruby. Claudia and Romilly are my favourites.
