I don't really like surname names in general, but some (like Paige and Brooke) seem more acceptable just because we are more familiar with them, they have been around for longer.

Riley sounds a bit rough really. Anne is a classic, royal name (although Anna is nicer). Therefore Riley Anne doesn't work at all, the two names are just so different.

I LOVE Riley for a girl. Yes I know its totally American but I just really like it. Not so much anymore for a boy because of the chavvy connotations.

Tierney and Riley are pretty similar to me. Both two syllable Irish surnames ending in an ee sound.

Just sounds like Ry Leanne to me. But as it goes I rather like American names so not opposed to the names themselves.

I think one of the issues with the name combination is that Anne is very traditional, potentially a bit musty as you said and Riley is very modern being an asexual surname so they don't gel very smoothly.
There are lots of other modern American names to consider, Piper, Sailor, Harper, Casey, Delaney, Meadow and Paige.

Riley Anne is a little plain imo.

I think they don't match really. The femininity of the name Anne sort of increases the masculinity of the name Riley if that makes sense.

I know a 10 year old girl Riley (UK). It's not what I would choose but if you like it then go with it.

One of Patrick "Doctor Who" Troughton's granddaughter's is called Tierney, while her sister is called Florence. Parents' name choices can vary wildly, even within the same family.

Exactly OP. I’d say there will be quite a few of the children with the old lady names that wish they had a trendy modern name once they hit their teens.
Riley is a cool name so go for it!
