Unusual Victorian/Edwardian names please

Purely hypothetical as baby number 2 doesn't exist yet, but I've been broody and currently obsessed with unusual period names.

I have an ancestor from about 1900-1910 called Mahala which I think is beautiful, and an Everilda (less so...)

For boys I love Rudyard, but think that might be a passing thing!

So, what other unusual slightly out there period names are there?

Oh, we've also had Jude, Miriams, Naomis, Selena(s), Mercy(ies), Faiths, Hopes, Charity(ies), Blessings, Praises and almost every other Virtue.

We have a very high BAME contingent. If it's in the Bible somewhere, we've probably had a kid with it.

Evangeline, Cecily, Lavinia, Erasmus, Malachi, Adeline, Verity, Constance, Lavinia, Adeline, Eliza, Elia, Esther, Iris and Kezia have all turned up on class registers in the last five years.

My family had names like Violet, Phyllis, Alice, Albert, George, Frederick, Arthur, Percival and Edmund.

Most of these are in Victorian period, a few are older. Men's names in my tree are pretty normal, apart from Golden, Ivatt, Fiddes, Dunlop and a couple of biblical names.

My favourites are Mahala and Malvena though!

Gaylord - not due a comeback anytime soon. I don't think. Originally a French name from gaillard and was quite popular in Victoria's reign.

I knew a girl called Araminta, known as Minty, which is quite Victorian/ Edwardian I think.

I like Adelaide but Bathsheba sounds too witchy for me but think watched too many horror films.

Whilhemina (sp) is also lovely.

Also Icabard (like Crane).

I have an Adeline, Martha and Edgar in my tree. I like Helena and Leopold of Queen Victora but none are particularly out there 😂

There's a great Horrible Histories clip on Victorian names. Teacher in the classroom calling the register. I can remember Toilet and Happy. It's very funny. Anyone else seen it?

Otherwise I'd go with Dickens. Oliver, Ebeneezer, Tim, Philip (Pirrip), Abel, Herbert. Love Dickens.
