what does everyone think of baby name

I really want ivy as in my nanny ivy and I want mae for me and lacey for my cousin so I'm thinking Iveigh-Mae lacey so that's Iveigh-Mae8 for her first and Lacey* for her middle let me know x its my first so want it to be right im already settled on a boy name Grin

Just looks like an ugly word to me, and Like you've tried to make a unique name by swapping letters for similar sounds badly.

Also looks like a typo of Leigh.

I say this as someone with a "misspelt" normal (though not common) name, it's a pain in the arse and I'm pretty sure it looks wrong to other people.

According to the General Register Office for England and Wales there have only been 2 Iveighs registered that would be old enough to be a grandmother. One has the middle name Grace the other Isabel - both of which are far better than Mae.

I don't think it's kind to be rude about the OP's choice of name, but I have to say I really don't like hyphenated names. They are very common just now, and will date her as she grows up. Plus there will be loads of something-Maes in her class. I do love Ivy though. But not Iveagh, sorry. I do think it will be irritating to her when people assume it's Ivy. I'm a Grandmother, and if any of my Grandchildren are named after me, I would prefer 81Byerley, not 81Byerlee.

Whilst i wouldn't spell the name the way you do, do you really give a toss if people think its strange/chavvy/lifetime of teasing?

Ivy is a lovely name but I don't like the spelling in your OP. In Australia where I live, changing up the spellings like that is considered quite bogan.

That said, Ivy May Lacey or Ivy Mae Lacey are lovely. Hyphenated or not wouldn't bother me,

If you cannot spell your own nannys name correctly, and this is a significant name for you, then chances are others will have the same trouble.

Ultimately, I'd go with whatever you like but remember that its your daughter who has to carry that name - and that particular combination isnt ideal.

I agree with everyone ivy spelt ivy.
No hyphen
Ideally no may/Mae. But May is better than Mae.

It’s your child though, and you can name her what you like regardless of your opinion.

I would try netmums though if I were you.

Also as PP have said -eigh is not pronounced the way you would want it.

'eigh' isn't necessarily pronounced 'ay', though, is it? Leigh is pronounced Lee.

Ivy May Lacey Winterbottom. Or whatever. Nice. Really, it's ok. Just spell it correctly and leave out the hyphens. People will nn her 'Poison', though. That's inevitable.

Veigh is pronounced "vay". So Iveigh becomes "eye-vay".

How are you pronouncing it?
I would say Ivy as eye-vee
And Iveigh as eye-vay (in which case it would rhyme with Mae and sound ridiculous)

I don't like double barrelled - Mae, but think Ivy Lacey Mae sounds lovely.

Ivy is by far best but I prefer Ivie to Iveigh.

In English eigh isn’t pronounced the same as y. People will say it like inveigh.

Well, if 'everyone' likes it, why come on here and ask people on the internet? Ivy is lovely. Iveigh is ghastly, and Iveigh-Mae is worse. Just call her Ivy Mae/May Surname.

People will judge you and think you can't spell. If that makes you more determined to give her that name then so be it. Why ask? Your baby, your rules, hun.
