Archie??

What do you think of Archie? We're having our second boy. Our first is called Zac, really struggling to find something we love this time!

Archibald is awful as a full name, Archer a little better. But isn't that someone who does archery?

It sounds ugly (especially the Arch part), it looks twee and it seems faddy ie likely to date.

I don't like it. There are loads of them now, all between 7 and 10 years old.

Its quite popular. I took dgd to the park at the weekend and there were a couple of Archies playing on the slide. I like Archie but not keen on Archibald.

I’m sorry I also hate it. Like Alfie, it’s just so twee. If you use Archer it makes it better but still not ideal.

My husband was determined that if we had a boy, they'd be called Archibald officially but generally referred to as Archie.
I really struggle with Archibald, but Archie feels quite fun - gives me half east end gangster vibes, half 1920s aristocrat vibes.
Turns out we're having a girl anyway, so the great Archie debate has trailed off for now.
(If we eventually had two boys at some point, his idea was that the other would be called Algernon/Algie, which feels like taking the same theme and dialling it up to 11!)

I really like it, along with similar names like Alfie and Ronnie. Wouldn't bother me if it was popular or people thought it was a bit dated. If you love it, go for it!

NBN = Naughty boy name, I think?

Which isn't my perception of the name at all, I think it comes off quite middle class (for a Labrador Grin).

I love it. And I don't agree it's a fashionable name that has had its day. Its a classic that dropped out of use and then returned.

My dog is Archie and I only know one other child called Archie also.

I'm not keen on it for a child but I think that's just because my dog is named that..
