Opinions on Delia

Love the name, but apparently a lot of people automatically think of the cook when they first hear it. What do you think? Yay or Nay?

Also, I'm not sure if it's Dee-Lee-Ah or Dell-Lee-Ah. Any thoughts?Grin

I don't like it one bit. I automatically think of Delia Smith too. I also think it's 'frumpy' and just not nice.

As a test, there’s been a Delia on. Master chef of late. She’s young and quite cool, but every time they say her name I think, eh? She can’t be called that! I can’t get past it being a middle aged name.

I associate it with a horrible person although I still think the name itself is pretty. I say Dee-Lee-Ah, although I am italian and they say Dell-ee-ah x

I prefer Della as you’re asking for opinions, Delia does remind me of Smith and I’m 37

I think of Delia Smith too but I think it’s nice. I would definitely use Cordelia with Delia as a nickname though!

I like it but I prefer Celia. It's a real babe, traditional but unusual. If you like it why not?

It's pronounced Dee Lee ah. I do think of the cook, but only because I don't know any others, its not a bad connection.
Don't love it, although it's much nicer than Delilah.
I think I'd probably prefer Amelia or Malia.

I always think of footballers shouting "oooh ahhh de li ah" at the chef but Im not sure why

I automatically think of Delia Smith but that might be my age. It's not a bad association though as I do like her Grin

I like the name and would pronounce it Dee-Lee-Ah.
