What do you think about the name Barnaby?

I've got a Barnaby who is now 21. He normally goes by Barney. It is a cracking name for a baby,toddler, little chap, teen or adult. He lives it and so do we! Btw we are not posh!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I love the name and nn would be Barney. I don't mind the posh connotations but as pp said find mumsnet obsession with class a bit odd

Out of interest @AfterSchoolWorry what kind of names do you like?

I love the name. I did name a cat who died too soon Barnaby after Midsomer Murders and his brother who also died too soon after Troy, hence my user name.

I'd love to be able to call the name Barnaby out loud again.

I actually don't get some mumsnetters 'class' obsession. Does class really exist in 2019?!

I knew a Barnaby growing up.
Really loud chavvy family (sorry don't know how else to describe it) who always thought they were better than everyone. He went to Cambridge in the end and wouldn't shut the fuck up about it for two years until he flunked out.

It has posh connotations. Jack Whitehall got a laugh by describing his father calling him and his brother and sister “Jack, Molly, Barnaby- come here!”

Love the name and know a couple of Barnabys. However both ended up as Barney, so make sure you like that name too.
