I really like all your listed names. (and also like Autumn and Winter as well).

Order of preference would be:

Sienna
Summer
Amalie/Amelie
Lucia
Thalia

Other suggestions: Elodie and Willow

Sophronia · 18/03/2019 23:11

I love Thalia

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 18/03/2019 23:10

I like Thalia. That's beautiful. Probably my pick of all your options because it's not co.mon but its stunning.

In the states, we pronounce Lucia like Loo-sia. I'm not too familiar with Lu-chia. I'm also not too familiar with people going by their full name instead of Lucy if they are Lucia, Lucille, or Lucinda. I like Lucy but dont care for the full name options!

I love Sienna a lot! I also love Amelie or Amalie. That is going to be my daughter's middle name. Still deciding on spelling as well. I do love the French spelling but my grandma's name is Ama and it's kinda being used as an honor name. These names are really common but it is because they are so stunning!

I also like Summer but I love season names. I also love Autumn and Winter as well ;) I dont think Summer is popular these days so I think its refreshing. Summer Lucille or Summer Amalie sound nice too.

Great list ;)

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 18/03/2019 23:06

Sienna (too popular?) - really like it Smile
Summer - nah
Amalie - like it but prefer it spelt amelie
Thalia - not keen sorry!
Lucia ( Loo-see-a) - pretty!

Ikeameatballs · 18/03/2019 22:58

Lucia and Thalia are lovely.

Cyberworrier · 18/03/2019 22:55

Love Thalia. And Lucia- I’d think of the Italian pronunciation but Spanish nice too

Trinnidad · 18/03/2019 22:49

I know quite a few Portuguese Lucias who pronounce it Lu-see-a.

EskSmith · 18/03/2019 22:31

Lucia will be pronounced Loo-thee-a by most Spaniards (it is my dd's (1/4 Spanish) middle name).

jiggsymalone · 18/03/2019 22:20

Lucia can be pronounced either of the ways mentioned, depending on where the name is coming from- one is Spanish, the other is Italian. To be honest although I know it's becoming more commonly used by people with no Italian or Spanish background, it still makes me cringe a bit when I hear someone call their child Lucia with no Italian or Spanish heritage.

Out of the other names listed I like Summer (I love Summer, Autumn and Winter as names). I also like Sienna but definitely with 2 Ns and not 1.

Whynotnowbaby · 18/03/2019 22:11

I love Lucia, either Spanish or Italian way are equally good (there’s always the St Lucia pron as well if you want to mix it up further!)

Musmerian · 18/03/2019 22:05

Thalia is lovely but is an Ancient Greek muse - so not very modern!

RuthW · 18/03/2019 22:04

I know a Lucia (loo-see-a) and it's never said lu-chi-a

Orangeslemon24 · 18/03/2019 22:00

Maybe the title was a little misleading. I understand not all are modern but thanks for the input.

I love Lucia and Thalia, like Amalie (prronouncing the E at the end, I take it?) - none of which are 'modern' names in any shape or form. Dislike Sienna and Summer, which are.

madeyemoodysmum · 18/03/2019 21:54

Lucia is my favourite

I’d pronounce it lu-chee-a

aliceandkids77 · 18/03/2019 21:52

I love Summer and Amalie (although I much prefer spelling Amelie). if you like Lucia maybe Lucie? all lovely names tho good luck x

fruitbrewhaha · 18/03/2019 21:49

Now who looks silly? Grin

fruitbrewhaha · 18/03/2019 21:48

Yeah, Luseeah in Spain, Lucheeah in Italy.

I know a Lucia, the Spanish way, it's not a problem.

Orangeslemon24 · 18/03/2019 21:43

Kinda snotty Confused
Well it depends on where you come from in the world. Spain have a different pronunciation to Italy so yes it's up for debate.

BartonHollow · 18/03/2019 21:40

I don't understand what you mean by debate. That is the correct pronunciation, not trying to be rude or snotty it's just best to know to not have to constantly say "no, we are pronouncing a traditional another way" and look a bit silly because you didn't know the correct pronunciation for the name you chose...

Orangeslemon24 · 18/03/2019 21:34

I know there is debate about how to pronounce Lucia.

OP posts:
BlueMerchant · 18/03/2019 21:32

Lucia - by far the best
Thalia- nice
Summer- ok
Sienna- too popular
Amalie- far far too popular and part of the Amelia/Amelie/Emalie phase.

BartonHollow · 18/03/2019 21:30

Lucia is pronounced Lu-chee-ah, pronouncing it another way will lead to a lifetime of correction

Sienna and Summer both overused

I've always liked Thalia

OublietteBravo · 18/03/2019 21:30

I really like Lucia. It’s a beautiful name.

I think Amalie is at least as popular as Sienna (I know several of each).

ritzbiscuits · 18/03/2019 21:28

Amelie (prefer the French spelling) is lovely

Sienna is far too common.
