Possibly Jessmina? Which is your favourite? Surname is polish. Thank you x

Ama or Mina, probably leading towards Ama depending on your surname.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/03/2019 09:11

Essie

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 17/03/2019 09:08

Mina (assuming it's pronounced 'Meena')

Lovely name

daisypond · 17/03/2019 09:06

I’ve just realised you mean them to be short for Jessmina. That’s not a name I know but I do know a Jesmina. I think Jessmina is rather nice. I’d go for Mina.

ChrisPrattsFace · 17/03/2019 09:04

Essie, will likely be our girls name. I love it!
(Don’t wear nail varnish so would have no idea if there’s a connection their!) 😂

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 17/03/2019 09:03

Isn't Essie a nail varnish brand?

IceRebel · 17/03/2019 09:02

Gah typo I meant slang

God dammit mumsnet get an edit button to spare my blushes. Blush

IceRebel · 17/03/2019 08:58

Mina- slang for ladies bits.

Do you mean Gina (as in Gine - a)

I've never heard of Mina used as slag in this way.

BloominSloe · 17/03/2019 08:57

PersonaNonGarter - Biff, Chip & Kipper! I loved those books 😂

daisypond · 17/03/2019 08:46

They all sound too nicknamey to me though I quite like Mina- there’s a fab one in Dracula the novel. Wilhelmina with Mina for short?

RuthW · 17/03/2019 08:36

Essie only if she has a proper name on the birth certificate. Maybe Esther.

Ama = ask me anything

Mina- slang for ladies bits.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/03/2019 08:36

How do pronounce Ama? What about Amara? I love that. Don’t like Mina, too near to meany meany Mina. Essie seems made up!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 17/03/2019 08:28

AMA

PersonaNonGarter · 17/03/2019 08:20

All these names sound like a Biff and Kipper teach your child to read book. Awful.

Lumisade · 17/03/2019 08:19

I love Mina, or Minna for the Finnish spelling.

junebirthdaygirl · 17/03/2019 08:18

Essie is lovely but only ones l know it's short for Esther. I would give her the full name and then shorten it. So she has choices later.

BloominSloe · 17/03/2019 08:11

I know a gorgeous little Mina and I love it!
I prefer the spelling Amma to Ama because of the whole autocorrect thing. Saves any confusion.

RosiePosies · 17/03/2019 08:04

LOVE Amma @ElizabethForever, it's unique but not unusual if that makes sense

ElizabethForever · 17/03/2019 07:54

Amma and Meena

Grobagsforever · 17/03/2019 07:51

I have an Essy (same name, different spelling) but she is an Esmerelda. Wouldn't have it as a stand-alone name, personally

RosiePosies · 17/03/2019 07:47

Is Ama pronounced like Amma? Or Ayma?

givememarmite · 17/03/2019 07:45

I have a Mina, love the name. Not so keen on Ama and I know Essie as a boys name.

Redorangeyellowgreen · 17/03/2019 07:39

I like Essie, is it short for something?

LadyGAgain · 17/03/2019 07:38

Is Mina pronounced 'Meena' or 'Miner'?
Essie is pretty
Ama is also nice but a little like initials and also autocorrected to AMA.

My friend is polish and her daughters are Magda and Abigail

IceRebel · 17/03/2019 07:37

I like Mina, but the other two feel unfinished.
