What do you think of this name for a girl? I’m surprised to see how uncommon it is! Pronounced COS-im-uh. Thanks.

Lovely.

Choccywoccyhooha · 18/03/2019 00:34

I love it. Nigella Lawson's daughter is called Cosima.

Palace13 · 18/03/2019 00:34

That's what I wanted to call my DD. Husband hated it. DD ended up Kezia

dreichuplands · 18/03/2019 00:27

The Earl of Ulster has a dd called this.

TigerDroveAgain · 18/03/2019 00:13

Haha ahahah.

Really?

AlliKaneErikson · 18/03/2019 00:11

It makes me think of Cosima Liszt too- very pretty name.

MrsEricBana · 17/03/2019 23:46

I really like it. Also reminds me of the beautiful flower cosmos (bipinnatus) and the, erm, cosmos. It wouldn't make me wonder if there was an Italian family link especially.

Antonin · 17/03/2019 23:33

Frank Liszt’s daughter was called Cosima. She married Richard Wagner.

Pixilicious · 16/03/2019 17:13

Love it

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2019 17:08

I was actually wrongly confusing cosima with Cosimo di Medici. So I add to my above comments that she may have lifetime of silly nitwits being very confused !

bringbacksideburns · 16/03/2019 17:05

Nope not for me sorry.

Is it the female equivalent of Cosmo?

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2019 17:00

Di Medici is what I think. I like the name. I woulda assume she hadnitalian heritage. If she didn’t it’s one where I would wonder why it had been chosen (silly but there we are - it is so Italian). I know it would be mispronounced her whole life in this country.

tinytemper66 · 16/03/2019 16:58

I was in school with a Cosima in the 70s and 80s. I like the name.

mammmamia · 16/03/2019 16:47

I love it. On my list for future DD2 but now too old Sad

MarthasGinYard · 16/03/2019 15:53

Yes it's vair posh.

I went to school with a wonderful Cosima, her DS was called Perdita

Both lovely and super names so I associate with positive vibe

Go for it

bridgetreilly · 16/03/2019 14:38

I'd say very posh, yes.

NunoGoncalves · 16/03/2019 11:31

I've never met an English one so I've no idea if it's seen as posh. But then again, I don't know any posh people so maybe that's why I've never met one! Grin

It's the name of a character in the semi-popular tv show orphan black, and is mispronounced on there as CoSEEmuh. I don't know if that could be the prevailing pronunciation among English speakers.

Pronounced COSimuh I like it a lot. I'd use it.

Ribbonsonabox · 16/03/2019 10:56

I think it's pretty!

Is it really that posh? I wasn’t necessarily going for that, but it doesn’t really put me off. The varying pronunciations might, but I don’t think it’s too difficult to remember once corrected.

I kind of love it Smile

Don't like it at all. I do however like your name Coco!?!

HolyMerlot · 16/03/2019 09:39

Love it! Orphan Black!!

Would love to name any future daughter of mine Cosima but everyone knows I love the show, Cosima is a lesbian, I'm a lesbian, so I sometimes think that people would find it weird if I named my child it Hmm

firstbrightday · 16/03/2019 09:37

For me it's very very posh. I know a lot of posh Cosimas

GummyGoddess · 16/03/2019 09:37

In Bridget Jones it's a man called Cosmo that you're thinking of

Nnnnnineteen · 16/03/2019 09:34

I've never met one. Only one I have heard of is Nigella's daughter, who was usually Mimi if IRC when she was on the tv programme as a child.
