Brutually honest feedback on Quentin please.

It’s a top contender for our newborn son but I don’t know if it’s too “out there”?

I don't think it's too out there. Seems to be becoming more popular, I know 2 under 10s names Quentin. I like it and Q is a cool initial.

aliceandkids77 · 23/03/2019 15:55

it's definitely not too out there, I know a few! it's a darling name though, I love it!!

Sparkly124 · 23/03/2019 11:37

Congrats OP btw!

Sparkly124 · 19/03/2019 15:09

I'm biased as we have one, but I love Quentin!

NancyFrank · 16/03/2019 12:29

Love it!

PorridgeLove · 16/03/2019 00:50

Makes me think of the Quentyn Martell in the Song of Ice and Fire books. What do you think of Tristan as alternative?

MaryBoBary · 15/03/2019 23:01

Good choice OP Smile

daisypond · 14/03/2019 19:46

I quite like Quentin. It does have a posh vibe, though. Zachary is nice enough, though. Quinn is terrible, so anything but that.

PinkieTuscadero · 14/03/2019 19:39

Zachary is definitely the better name! By many, many miles.

pixieloux · 14/03/2019 17:57

We’re definitely going with Zachary for his first name.

RummidgeGeneral · 14/03/2019 17:50

Please please don't choose it if your son is going to state school.

pixieloux · 14/03/2019 17:29

We’ve toyed around with using it as a second middle name but I think it’s too long especially as our eldest three only have one. All our children have Gaelic middles so we’re set on the middle name, Tadhg but we’ve got a few days to think about whether or not we want him to be Zachary Quentin Tadhg or not.

I love it too (biased) Smile

RuthW · 14/03/2019 15:39

Love it

Ghostwriter90 · 14/03/2019 15:09

It's awful you'll regret it poor kid

Sessy19 · 14/03/2019 12:16

Oh, yes. Zachary is much cooler. Stronger. I can’t imagine anyone thinking negatively of Zachary 😊

Sessy19 · 14/03/2019 12:13

It’s not AWFUL. But it really is characterless in my opinion. It’s limp. It just sounds too feminine I think.

pixieloux · 14/03/2019 11:10

Thanks everyone. We’re going with Zachary. It just seems to fit a bit better especially as we’re not “posh” or trying to be lol.

Bumblebeesmum · 14/03/2019 10:52

I like Quinn
Quentin is so incredibly posh that if you’re incredibly posh then fine but if not it sounds like you’re trying very hard to be - sorry you did ask!
I love Zachary

GemmeFatale · 14/03/2019 08:53

I really like it and it’s on my short list. But im aware my shortlist names are all a little marmite.

Don’t use it. I don’t want it to become too popular Grin

Pieceofpurplesky · 13/03/2019 23:38

Zach and Quinn are fabulous names. Quentin will always be a marmite name. I have met a Quinton which I thought was a great name.

123Flopsy · 13/03/2019 23:22

All of the Quentins I know are lovely normal boys with lovely families, so I don't know where that supposed 'posh' association comes from?

To me Quentin is a classic slightly old fashioned name and Q is a cool initial.

pixieloux · 13/03/2019 23:16

@GregoryPeckingDuck It’s not that I’m too insecure to choose “an interesting name”... None of our children’s name aren’t overly popular where we live and our eldest’s name was like a top 700 name when we named her. I absolutely love the name and was the one who suggested it but I don’t know, something is stopping me from committing to it now he’s here... I think it is the posh association.

Fiddle - that made me laugh out loud! Don't call your child Quentin - it's an awful name.

AfterSchoolWorry · 13/03/2019 23:08

It's horrible.
