There are some names like Connie and Matilda.... Popular ones that I hate and just don't get.
Any names that are popular you just don't get?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

All surnames as first names

Hyphenated first names (unless you're French)

Mad(d)ison, Darcie, Courtney, Chelsea/Chelsey, Paige, Jayden, Kayden, Ethan, Kyle, Con(n)or.

That's just for starters. Grin

HappyGoLuckyGo · 12/03/2019 17:55

Came here to say Matilda! Really don't see the appeal, personally.

Amusingly I also know a child called Tate and another called Lyle. Not siblings, fortunately!

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 17:54

Wallpaper names like Olivia, Isabelle, Emma, just generic and forgettable.

Brilliant.

I'm not a fan of Arthur or olive. Find them very austere

Elsie, Effie, Emmy, Ellie etc

Very little actual name going on, just vague mutterings.

Wallpaper names like Olivia, Isabelle, Emma, just generic and forgettable.

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 17:50

Ruth vs Louise.... Grin tricky one!

Not a fan of Kirsty. It's just a horrible sound, nothing appealing about it.
Yeah I'm not a fan of Alfie, archie, albie either

Icklepup · 12/03/2019 17:49

Olivia

ShutTheFridgeUp · 12/03/2019 17:46

Any name that should be a last name. Hate them.

PippilottaLongstocking · 12/03/2019 17:45

Fleur
Aurora

Any kind of Jayden/Kayden/Shayden/Hayden etc (although just Aidan is fine)

Nevaeh

Brinlee/Kinsley/Aubree etc

Carouselfish · 12/03/2019 17:41

Ones that end in 'son' especially for a girl. Bizarre. Have an American relative who's just called their daughter Kensington. I. just. don't. get it.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 12/03/2019 17:40

I'll see your Ruth and raise you a Louise. Most boring name ever thanks mum

keepingbees · 12/03/2019 17:36

@CallMeRachel I agree with all those you've listed!

Agree with Ethel and a lot of the old lady names. Also dislike Neveah find it corny.
I don't like Daniel I went to school with many and none were very nice. Same with Samantha.

123Flopsy · 12/03/2019 17:24

Cutesy names like Alfie, Archie, Poppy, Daisy, Teddie etc.

I much prefer elegant beautiful names!

Pinnacular · 12/03/2019 17:20

Darcey / Darcy. It just doesn't sound pleasing to my ears.

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 17:20

Awww thanks but seriously Ruth is horrific. Luckily I love my first name.
Don't get Amelia at all...just twee and blah.
Hate Connie too!
My sister likes clementine which I find very pretentious, don't get.

BlueMerchant · 12/03/2019 17:18

I really like Ruth too. Strong and classic.

ScreamingValenta · 12/03/2019 17:14

If it's any consolation, I think Ruth is a lovely name. It always suggests a thoughtful, intelligent person to me.

squashedgrape · 12/03/2019 17:14

Michaela and all the other ways of spelling it.

BlueMerchant · 12/03/2019 17:13

They not too offensive and could be quite nice if they weren't so common but I don't get theAmelia/Amelie/Emilia-type names.
I dont like names like Maddison or Cory either.

Pringlemunchers · 12/03/2019 17:12

Ian. It is just a noise.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 12/03/2019 17:11

Noah
Emily
Joshua
Amelia
Mila/Myla/Mia/Mya

All perfectly inoffensive names, but so blah

katseyes7 · 12/03/2019 17:08

My mam was Ethel. l don't know what possesses anybody to look at a baby and think "we'll call her Ethel!"
My friend said exactly the same about her dad. He was called Bernard.

CallMeRachel · 12/03/2019 17:07

Whoops!! Grin Haha trust me to offend the op, of all the names out there too!! Blush

Oh well, at least it's only a middle name!

Ohyesiam · 12/03/2019 17:07

Surnames as first names.

Names that demonstrate what kind of parent you are, like Moss and Oak just so that everyone knows you’re a tree-hugger.
I am a fully paid up veggie tree-hugger btw, but my kids have names that I thought would suit them, not ones that complement my lifestyle.

Ghostwriter90 · 12/03/2019 17:04

My middle name is Ruth Grin and it's the worst possible name you could give a girl ....my mum said it was her hormones at the time. Named after a family member she hates!
