Marina?

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if it's a bit like calling your child town centre or plaza something.

I think it's lovely. There was a Princess Marina and her granddaughter is Marina Ogilvy. There was also a Russian Princess Marina. It's certainly got some class!

(Marina in Stingray was my first girl crush and she wasn't even real!)

Marina Hynde (sic??) writes for the Guardian.
Marina Grimaldi would sound good.
Would Marianna or Miranda have a similar effect for you? They are both shakespearean heroines I think but would have to google which plays.

Thunderbirds and/or stingray are before my time being mid thirties so i wouldnt have seen the link. Younger people will have no idea of these series at all, therefore no need to be put off by vintage telly references.

Others have explained before me. It's a classic series from the same genre as the original Thunderbirds. Marina was the beautiful and mysterious female lead, who couldn't speak. So not a bad association, unless she turns out very talkative! Grin

I quite like it and it's a 'posh name' in my head. (Well, aside from Marina from Last of the Summer wine, the aged good time girl who was always getting her end away in a field with that henpecked man. Niche reference though Grin).

In all honesty she was a character from stingray which was a children's series by the makers of thunderbirds. Think she was an underwater girl? Maybe mute?
