Thoughts on Tamsin?

We can’t find a single girls name we both like.
I’ve considerd Tamsin before and starting to consider it again but don’t come across it much so was wondering what others thought of it?

Classic
Dated?
A bit ‘posh’ in a good or a bad way?
Common

Etc etc

Our DD is P ene lope so want a name that has a similar feel to that which to me is
Classic
Feminine but not too girly
Known but not overly common
Don’t mind the ‘its a bit posh’ comments we got in the early days

@foxtiger another famous Tasmin is Tasmin Little - famous English violinist.

I like Tasmin or Tamsin although i think perosnally i like the Tamsyn spelling myself

I am a Tamsin and never a Tammy. I’ve met a handful of others over the years and all of us report our biggest bug bear is being called Tasmin. It doesn’t matter how you spell it, that’s just what you get. I LOVE it when people get it right first time and it’s made me super careful when reading other peoples names and remembering their spelling.
As an aside, my god-daughter is Anabelle because her parents fought over the frilly/nonfrilly spelling. She goes by Ana now and aside from having to spell her name for official things, she has no issues as her name is easily recognisable. She actually likes the fact she can go by Ana as that’s completely unfrilly and different (she’s a cool teen now)

Love it! A little posh in a good way for me - classic and literary, not snobbish. I adore the Thomas Hardy connection. Would have been on my list for a girl!

I’ve let Juliette go, DP just isn’t keen but I still think it’s the best option abd he’s just a weirdo with bad taste 😄😉

I agree though that Tamsin is more interesting than Annabel

I love Tamsin, one of my favourite names. And it's great next to sister Penelope. Annabel is nice enough but Tamsin is much more interesting. I like both spellings Tamsin, Tamzin.

I like Tamsin. I only know one and she’s mostly called Tam.

I read a book when I was 10/12 ish in which the heroine was called Tamsin and I loved it then! (I think it might have been a Penelope Lively - Tudor fiction and it was fab!)

Dd was going to be Tamsin my whole pregnancy but I suddenly went off it at the end. Felt it was too Jilly Cooper for me in the end. Also liked Meredith, Claudia and Kirsten/ Kristin. Personalty disjunction Annabel a lot.

I like Tamsin a lot in itself, and I also like the fact that it's never been popular enough to be strongly associated with a certain age group. I wouldn't say it was particularly posh, though it's probably more middle-class than working-class, if that even matters. It feels like a name for a creative independent thinker to me.

People have mentioned confusion with "Tasmin" - has anyone ever actually been called that, apart from that one singer? I've certainly never met or heard of another one.

I think it's great. Goes well with Penelope.
I also like Anabelle but prefer Tamsin.

I teach a Tamsin who is always getting called Jasmine! I actually prefer the name Jasmine to Tamsin but the latter is still a good name. For some reason I see it as a bit hippyish and 70s but in a world of Ava’s and Darcies it’s a welcome change.

I like Tamsin, but I do prefer the longer original form of Thomasina - but that does have a bit of a different feel. It is both frillier and also more formal.
