Classic 2/3-syllable girls names...

...that more or less work in French too. Not much to ask, I know!

Can't have Anna, Sophie, Elisabeth, Marianne or Beatrice (outs self), but these will give you an idea of the kinds of names we like.

The French connection means that the endings will probably have an 'e' rather than an 'a' (e.g: Marguerite rather than Margarita). I'm open to more unusual names, but DH is fairly conservative... Please help!

Absolutely untrue. We're not cave dwellers. Wink I've know a few Noemies (outside of France) over the years. I'm from Southern California and- surprise, surprise- I was never baffled by this name. There's hope for people in the UK yet!

Emmanuelle is shortened to Manu, OP. I love this name.
Anaïs is one of my favourites though.

I used to really like Noémie, but have gone off it a bit; conversely OH has vetoed it in the past but now likes it :-/

Quite like Juliette, but OH doesn't...

Don't really like all the feminised-versions-of-male-names: Fabienne, Henriette, Antoinette etc

Is Olivia far too common now? Commonly used, I mean, not 'chav'-tastic...
