I love Sophie but Meredith just has the edge to me. It's less used and I love the "ith" sound on the end.

Use both - Sophie Meredith is beautiful. I think Meredith is the more interesting name, but you cannot go wrong with Sophie. It is elegant, has a good meaning, suits all ages.

Friends DD is called Meredith, but they shorten her name to to Mim which is cute and suits her. Don't like Merry as diminutive, sorry. Sophie is lovely too.

I have one - but we’ve never called her Merry as I utterly hate it as a nickname.
She has just informed me that she likes being called Merry or Mer by her friends at school though so I guess I may have to get used to it being shortened as she gets older! 😂

Merry and Sophie both end in the same sound as Lottie so don’t discard Meredith for that reason.

I’d choose Meredith.
