I'm not 100% on the names we've decided on, but neither me nor my DH will have each other's first choices (Florence or Olivia).

He has always wanted Rosie so I've said that I would go for that because I think it's a pretty name, we can't agree on anything else and I just hope I'd come to love it.

We haven't told anyone this name but at work, people have been giving me suggestion upon suggestion. Yesterday someone suggested Rosie by coincidence... our surname starts with an R and has two S's in it.
A couple of them laughed, with comments such as 'imagine calling it that', 'god that's a definite no' and 'what a mouthful'.

My DH was so happy that we'd come to a decision, and now I'm so paranoid about the name!

Is it really that bad?

Sounds fine to me, even if it is Rossiter.

I'm with your husband though, Florence is not a name I'd want to give my child.

It's funny that you can't agree because I would put Florence and Olivia in exactly the same category.

What do you not like about Olivia and what does he not like about Florence?

Myla and Amelia are very similar sounding too!

If I love Florence and Myla and husband loves Olivia and Amelia, and we both like Rosie (not rose, Rosanna etc)... what else might we like?

Or how do I trick my husband in to going with Florence.......

My son has a name a bit like that. I honestly didn't put two and two together until he was about six months (I have a different surname to him, so maybe that's why...) but I actually like it now! People don't really think as much about these things as we do as parents, most people probably won't notice.

FWIW my second son has a name that lots of people suggested and then went 'ugh no I don't like it', but he suits is so much and I love it anyway.

It is cute in a storybook character kind of way but I'm not sure I'd want that beyond childhood.
