I think when you’re very sensitive to people’s opinions it can mean you’re not completely convinced yourself though.

I think Rosie is lovely but there would be a name you would both love if this isn’t it. I have a friend with a Rosalie and of course the legend Rosa would be cool.

I think Rosie is nice and probably wont be bad with your surname but it's hard to say without knowing what it is.

However it does seem like you don't love the name so maybe it isn't the right one?

I think it sounds fine! I'd not use it as I say 'w' instead of 'r'... can you imagine lol!!! But if you can actually say 'r' it's totally fine. I dont think itd be too much of a mouthful.

I'd find it hard to go with that name after the conversation, sorry, but it doesn't sound like you really like Rosie anyway. I'd also try and steer any conversations away from this topic in future as people are much more brutal about theoretical baby names than ones they are presented with as fact.

I think there must be a good solution somewhere between Myla and Amelia - I know an Emilia who goes by Mila, for example. Then there is Maya, Amelie, Emme, even Emma, that are close to both.

Otherwise, maybe Josephine with either Posie or Josie as a nn - both similar to Rosie without the alliteration?

I know a little Florence with nn Flossie...sounds a bit like Rosie? Would DH go for that?

Why? Is it the sound? Because they don't sound similar at all, but culturally (I don't think that's the right word, but hopefully you know what I mean!) I think they're in the same group!

It's interesting how the same name can provoke such different reactions! It's for the best otherwise we'd all have DC with the same name.

Sure, alliterations can be cute - but I grew up with one and couldn't wait to change my name. Cute for other people I think... or extroverts. I really do think they can sound good, and I like Rosie, but based on my experience I can't recommend it.

Just have an honest talk with DH. Tell him you don't love it, and are concerned that it may not work with surname. Maybe you have to keep working to find another name you can both agree with. Maybe one of your loves will grow on him, especially after he sees you in labour. I do think in the end you both need to love, or be happy enough, with the name.

First off, I dont think you should go for a name unless you both really love it, and I don't think you can make your husband like Florence if he really isn't keen. If you are not hundred per cent on Rosie, then I would keep searching until you are both happy with the final decision.

It depends on the surname really but alliterations I think can be quite cute.
How long is the surname? As others have said might it work better with a longer name and Rosie as a nn?

If you like Florence Rosie and Olivia maybe Flora? Harriet? Beatrice? Edith? Elsie? Iris? Eloise? Fleur? Sophia? Grace? Poppy? Maisie? Pippa?

How about a longer version with Rosie as a nn? I work with a Rosie whose full name is Rosemary or you could have Rosalind, Rozina or Roseanne?

The Florences and Olivias that we know have sisters called Verity, Tamsin and Isabella, if that helps at all.
