I know a Bear. He's great. It also depends where you live- the Bear I know lives in an area where that name wouldn't really get a second look. Where you live might be different.

Yes it's bloody silly, and I say that as someone who's given their DS the nickname Bear! Maybe find a name that either means bear or for which bear can be used as a nickname?

I really like it. I like it so much I named my cat Bear. I now feel silly having a cat called a Bear.

You might feel silly having a child named Bear. You might not.

It would be a fabulous middle name.

We call my daughter Bear as a nickname. We obviously use her real name as real but I do get some odd looka when we call her Bear as people assume we have copied Cheryl.

Yep. Use it as a pet name, a term of endearment but do not inflict it on him as an actual name.

The trouble with fashionable names is that they go out of fashion. Bear was fashionable a few years ago so now it seems really dated. What about Bruno? It means bear and is a recognised human child's name
