Don't usually like "out there" names but I actually quite like this one.Blush Don't use it as a name though, use it as a nickname.

No matter what you name him, you can always call him Bear at home.
Nicknames happen, my Dd is Niamh but amongst others, she's been Noo Noo, and Mr Daniel!

I find helpful to try and imagine them with the name at all different life stages. 2yo Bear is cute, does it still work at 45 and 90? I like the suggestion of using as a pet name: best of both worlds then....

Use it as a middle name and then it can be a cute nn when he’s young but he has a more serious name to go by when/if he wants to.

Where I'm from Bear (well Bjørn) is a quite normal name and I don't see anything wrong with it. It's your kid, do as you want 😊

It was hugely popular about 5 years ago, along with Teddy funnily enough! I think it's very much 'of its time' though and people have moved on. I like Bruno. How about official name Bruno, Bear as a nickname while he's a baby?

What about Arthur, which could be derived from artos the Celtic for bear?

It isn't a name. Dreadful thing to lumber a child with. He will hate you when he's a teenager and you will deserve all the grief he gives you.

My cat is called bear I honestly would never choose it for a child. My cat looks like a bear so name stuck not for a child tho

It's beyond awful. It's like calling your child Sloth or Wombat, plus it reminds me of a man best known for drinking his own wee on TV.

Or use it as a middle name. Have Edward as his first name, so then he can be Teddy Bear.

Having said what I just did...DD has a middle name I didn't dare give her as a first name, because it would have been seen as silly and ridiculous. I wish I'd given it to her as a first name.she could have map pulled it off and would have been the only one in her school class
