Dear all,

I wonder if you could help me decide a name for dd2.

Our first dd is Isabella (as you can tell I don’t care about popularity of names!)

I would like another classic name to match.

I have always had a soft spot for Camilla. I feel that it’s so elegant...but my husband feels that it’s a bit “posh old lady”.

My husband on the other hand prefers general classics such as Anna or Sarah. I completely vetoed Sarah because it’s been incredibly overdone.

But Anna I feel is so plain and dull.

Who’s in the right?

Camilla or Anna?

Many thanks

Also please no advice about picking Camille instead-as I can’t help but picture a camel!

And I also don’t mind both girls names ending with the letter “a”!

Haha it seems that I am!

In all honesty I don’t think I mind Anna that much...

I think both my husband and I would compromise to either Camilla or Anna...it’s now more of a question of which one to pick....

It's clear you are very set on Camilla, OP?

So go and work on your DH Grin

Badgerama · 22/02/2019 15:05

Zoë
Eleanor
Sylvia
Connie

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 22/02/2019 15:00

Seraphina?

I like Camilla but don't like Milly, which I imagine is an obvious nn.

Hellohappiness · 22/02/2019 14:51

Is Camilla and Isabella together a bit of a mouthful?

Hellohappiness · 22/02/2019 14:50

I love Camilla and have never known one.

Megan2018 · 22/02/2019 14:38

I prefer Anna to Camilla

Phillipa
Clarissa

daisypond · 22/02/2019 14:31

No, never. Primary school children won't have heard of Camilla the Duchess and she barely registers even amongst older pupils. My DC, in their late teens, aren't particularly aware of Charles or Camilla, and nor do they care.

DrCatherine · 22/02/2019 14:17

Thank you everyone

Grace is my daughter’s middle name!

Any parents of a “Camilla” are they bullied etc at school due to the Duchess connection?

Luckingfovely · 22/02/2019 13:56

Camilla yes, Anna no for me.

Lana is just awful imo.

Grace seems to fit your bill.

Or Lexi, but this might scare your DH.

SnowWhite33 · 22/02/2019 13:55

Love Camilla!

Im always surprised when ppl refer to Duchess of Cornwall tbh.
There are plenty of posts mentioning Elizabeth, Harry or William as potential name for their baby and nobody refers to the royals.
Im not British but to me Camilla is a beautiful and timeless name that is also used in many other countries.

SleepWarrior · 22/02/2019 13:54

I quite like Camilla but I do think everybody will instantly think of the duchess of Cornwall. May not be relevant by the time she's grown up but could be a source of teasing though school.

What about
Grace
Cordelia
Georgina
Louisa
Harriet
Delilah
Clarabel

BlueMerchant · 22/02/2019 13:52

Camilla is nice but I prefer Anna. I think it's classic and elegant. I also like Louisa.

Sauvignonblanket · 22/02/2019 13:52

For what it's worth I love Camilla, prefer it over Anna and wouldn't mind the Duchess of Cornwall connection...but two names ending lla would be too matchy for me.

How about a classic beautiful name that has a simpler shortening your DH could use full time.

Also, how about Matilda or Rosalind?

daisypond · 22/02/2019 13:49

Camilla and Anna are both great, in my opinion. I'd go for Camilla out of the two.

mrsk28 · 22/02/2019 13:47

They aren't bad names but think there is better options.

Good luck, names are so hard!

PFB2 · 22/02/2019 13:46

I do love Camilla but prefer Annie to Anna.

DrCatherine · 22/02/2019 13:43

Thanks for the suggestions I’ll put some forward to the dh!

Is Camilla and Anna a general no though?

Proudpeacock · 22/02/2019 13:41

How about Leonora?

Wakk · 22/02/2019 13:39

Lucinda, Helena

Wakk · 22/02/2019 13:39

Fenella, Olivia, Nicole?

playinthedarkness · 22/02/2019 13:37

Ava ? Liza ? Larissa ?

BlueChampagne · 22/02/2019 13:27

Caroline

PFB2 · 22/02/2019 13:06

Another vote for Georgia. I have one so I am biased but I love the name. It feels so timeless and suited to a baby and adult equally well. I also feel like it suits all personalities and has lovely options for nick names ☺️

Minglemangle · 22/02/2019 13:05

If you like Sarah and Lara what about Zara?
