I like it. I prefer Marissa to Marisa, unless you've got Spanish roots.

Nice name and I love Missy as a nickname. I also really like how rarely used yet accessible Marissa is.

Of course it goes with Susannah Confused its a beautiful name. I prefer the Marisa spelling. Its a popular shortening of Maria Luisa in Spain (possibly Italy too?)

Someone should I have given my mum that memo!

My sister is named after a Russian gymnast, I'm named after a tv personality of the day and my brother is named after a town in America.( no idea why.) The manes aren classic names or sound similar or of the same length

Funny no one seems to have a problem with them. The concession I will make is if a couple of the siblings have a zany ' out there name' and another sibling is called, say Mary , that would be odd ( I do know some that has done this 3 kids that are now in their late 20s and two of them. changed their names to something more regular and the other two siblings had names that were popular in the 70s but are seen as dull now!

Goodness me, I completely disagree that names of siblings have to "go" with each other. I mean it might be a bit odd if one was called Shaniqua and the others Cressida and Mohammed, from a purely cultural point of view, but other than that I don't think it matters in the slightest if they "go" or not.

I've never in my life heard siblings' names and thought "what a shame they don't go". The only time I ever gave it a second thought was with adults on TV when one had been given the grandfather's old-fashioned foreign name and the other a modern American name. I imagined the older one thinking "Why did I get stuck with the weird name?"! Grin

Marissa and Susannah both sound like nice normal names to me. I know a 55-year-old Marisa so it's certainly not made up.

I do like Marissa a lot it’s pretty and cool, reminds me of the American Teen show The OC from when I was a teenager.

However, I agree with some others it doesn’t sound quite right with a sister Susanna which is a very traditional name. Something like Elizabeth, Victoria, Eleanor would sound better with your daughters name x

I think it’s really important names go together. Marissa is lovely but it doesn’t go with susannah. They don’t sound like sisters and it sounds odd to say

It's nice if the names have a similar ring to them.

There are circumstances where it might be a good way to bind a family together - for instance in a blended family where there are already children with names of a certain sort and babies are added it's nice if all the names point to a family connection.

Many people favour names of a certain sort anyway. There is usually a taste divide between people who would name a child Kassidi and people who would choose Caroline.

Prefer Clara over Clarissa and not really keen on Marissa. It's quite frilly and dated.

Trying to get away from the Ann names as I have a Susannah. OH has a cousin Melanie and we dont want her to think baby is named after her. Clarissa is a bit frillier somehow. Missy is a cute shortening. OH actually likes it so it's top of the list at the mo. Thanks for the help.

It's ok. I'm not keen on -issa names generally, but I prefer it to Melissa or Clarissa.

What Kintan said. In a good way. It's a lovely, pretty name that's not too cutesy and would suit a baby or a professional adult.

But as a baby she could have Missy for short!
