River and Raphael are our final choice names for our boy. I prefer River - any similar names? Not toooo hippy but a little bit?

Prefer River out of your two names. My favorites posted are Arran and Aspen.

Love River and Raphael (especially if nn is Raffy!)
How about Rafe or Ralph? Similar vibe to me.
Hunter or Rouben are also lovely 🙂

I'm brainstorming, not taking the Mick, but what about
Scree
Larch
peregrine
Breck
Corrie
It's funny how previous generations nature names like Glen and Craig sound naff now.

PippilottaLongstocking · 13/02/2019 23:30

I liked Oisín (uh-sheen) or Osian (osh-in) because they sound a bit like ocean

singingismypassion · 13/02/2019 23:23

Bear
Hobart
Dallas
Summerled ( i met one recently - lovely boy)

I love River.
Wouldn't use it myself but I think I err on the side of conservative (little c) when it comes to names (think top 10-20).

I certainly don't mean I've called my kids Maggie and Winston Hmm

Poppins2016 · 13/02/2019 20:31

Zephyr (Ancient Greek for 'west wind')

Rowan (echoing the others - it's a great name and was on my list!)

Robin

Reuben

MerryMarigold · 13/02/2019 20:30

Beck

I like Raphael a lot. Gabriel is similar.
Instead of River, have you thought about the name of a river? I've always thought Thames would be a good name (other rivers are available). Eden isn't too far out there nowadays either. I really like Aspen, as suggested upthread. Or Linden.

BeeYouTiful · 13/02/2019 17:53

I love the name River.

Thanks to everyone who gave sincere responses!
Sorry your life is so dull you have to spend it being obnoxious on the internet to those who didn’t!
