Cons: Rachael or Rachel in the West is often dated to the seventies and eighties.

I'm a 25 yo Rachel and in my year at school there was 6 Rachels, used to drive me mad! And I can't stand it when people spell my name wrong particularly in an email when my name is clearly spelt right above.

I don't mind my name but I wouldn't name my children it

But how do you pronounce Rachael? Is Ra-chah-el?

I like it.
I prefer the Rachel spelling.
I knew a Rachael who always had people getting the "a" and the "e" the wrong way round and writing "Racheal".
It used to drive her mad!
Having said that though there are lots of names that people often confuse which way round the letters go.

I’m a Rachael! People spell it wrong all the time and I have to make a point of Rachael “with and A” quite often; I still do think it’s a much nicer spelling though and is the Olde English way.
There is a Rachael/Rachel currently at DS’s primary school

I always used to think of Rachael as the standard spelling, and it's still the version I prefer, but in the last 20 years or so I have only come across Rachels.

I like both.

I'm a 1956 Rachel. Very few Rachel's around whilst I was growing up. One day in the supermarket, someone bellowed "Rachel, PUT THAT DOWN". I hurriedly put the chocolate back, then turned round to see a toddler also looking guilty.

I am a Rachel, seeing my name written down so many times made me start questioning if it really is my name.

There is a Rachel in my DD class in junior school.

I like it. Although I get Rach a lot.

I'm Rachael. People always spell it Rachel or Racheal (this one does my head in and it's spelt that way on my back card Angry). What annoys me more is when someone replies on Facebook or an email where they can clearly see my name and they spell it wrong. Sorry for the personal rant Grin. Also hate being called Rach.

Despite that I like my name and spelling.

Some of the 80s names are lovely - Rachel, Louise, Sarah, Amanda.

I'm a Rachael, 90% of the time it's spelled as Rachel (which is the correct biblical spelling) and as a child it was so frustrating not to be able to buy pens, mugs, badges etc with the -ael spelling, so if you were going to use it I would go for the Rachel spelling.
I love my name, I have never been called Rach or Raquel and I think it's a great name for a baby, not too commonly used but not too unusual and good for all ages.

I know four Rachels amongst the dc's friends aged 15, 13, 12 and 2 so seems to still be quite popular around here.
