Want to avoid a popular name for our little boy ❤️

Henry, Charlie and Leo at our nursery.

Surprised at some of the names on here! We have 75 children a day and don’t have any children 0-5 with most of these names.

I'm not a teacher but I have one in nursery and one in reception.

Loads of George's, Oliver's & Oscars.

Also duplicate Alfie's in both classes, and ralphie.

Peepingsnowdrops · 26/01/2019 21:35

You can get really unpopular names and still have duplicates, but also popular names and have no duplicates.

When my DD was born 20 years ago there were 70 others that had the same name, she ended up in Y2 with another girl with the same name. Her name has been has since been in the top 100 for over 10 years now.

Likewise in her secondary school with about 100 in her year, there were NO Emilys.

Zebedee88 · 26/01/2019 20:58

Theo, Freddie, Felix, henry/ harry

mikado1 · 26/01/2019 20:56

Really really surprised at Noel!!

mikado1 · 26/01/2019 20:56

Ollie/Harry/Bobby/Victoria/Dylan

Mummy2one2016 · 26/01/2019 20:52

There is no duplicates in my little boys play group and I'm yet to come across any at baby groups. He has a top 10 name for the year of his birth

TheFatberg · 26/01/2019 20:51

champy87 Do ONS not do by region? I'm sure they do.

BackforGood · 26/01/2019 20:50

I do agree this is very regional (and, class based), as well as cultural and religious heritage.

Whynotnowbaby · 26/01/2019 20:48

Three Harrys in dd’s class (but she is six so a little older), ds has two Berties but I’m not sure that is very typical!

Twickerhun · 26/01/2019 20:43

Oh and max

Twickerhun · 26/01/2019 20:43

Dexter
Theo
Luca
Ethan
Noah
Arlo

FranklinTheCat · 26/01/2019 20:39

Duplicate Theos in ours.

Other popular names I've met more than one of:

Hugo
Max
Oscar
Arlo

babybean19 · 26/01/2019 20:35

Thank you everyone ☺️ names always come and go and I know that...but being as we are putting a list together just wanted to rule out the really common/popular ones! My husband was one of like 10 with the same name 🙈 I've looked at all the lists already of popular names/top 100 but interested to hear what people are hearing a lot of!

I work in a doctors surgery so we often see a pattern of certain names and of course very very unusual names too!!
