Gulsink · 19/02/2019 22:17

Not sure how it's written but there's a little boy called Carver in our swim group!

Maybe it's Cava and he has a sister called Chardonnay.

HairyToity · 19/02/2019 21:52

Beau
Herbie
Eden
Billie (girl)
Rowen (girl)

This is a great idea, I found the names you think of as unusual before dc1 if you’re a bit out of touch with young kids you find out are very common when you start going to groups. Hunter, Bluebell, River, Dusty, China etc are not out there at all in my experience!
Only known of one Sky Blue, Peregrine or Chyna (& not from a non-UK background)

Narya · 19/02/2019 16:41

Not many unusual ones round my way but I did come across:

Loki
Louella

Nuala is a very ordinary name in Irelsnd.
Pronounced Nuulah

Marcipex · 19/02/2019 13:47

Sapphire, poor boy. I know a girl called Sapphire and it sounds like Sophia. That's what most people hear.

At Baby group, I heard Bronte and Saxon, both girls. Also Willow, a boy.

whinetime89 · 19/02/2019 13:00

Some of these are priceless!
In Australia Clayton I know a few Clayton's.
I also know a Nuala.
A child ( boy ) was called Sapphire.
Another mum I know called her child "Hawaii Skye nixie" ( siblings include Tydal- storm
My BIL just called their little boy Bruce.
I know a boy called Gordon ( honestly the sweetest little thing ever!)
I also know a child called Legend. No joke.

Seeing Magenta written down reminds me of my cousin’s boyfriend’s flat mate at uni. His dad told him to paint the flat and just to do the entire place in magenta. He was telling my cousin, who thought it was quite a bold move and said ‘magenta? The whole flat in magenta?’ The lad said that was definitely what he said. Then the penny dropped and my cousin said ‘are you sure he didn’t say magnolia?’ 😂

Dixywitch19 · 06/02/2019 23:17

I know a Saxon, flint & river.
Flint is the girls name.

Buttercupsandaisies · 06/02/2019 21:13

Hairgician · 06/02/2019 19:57

Not at a playgroup but at a salon i worked in years ago. A mum was in with her 2 boys, 1 who was called Tarquin. She mustnt have liked him very much.

ChampooPapi · 06/02/2019 09:54

There was an 'Air' at a baby bounce I went to where you sing a song to introduce your baby.

I am interested to know how it was spelt and if it's a cultural name, perhaps Irish or a European name I'd never heard of

HPLikecraft · 06/02/2019 00:54

Lots of these names are from other cultures or countries, though, so whilst they may be “unusual” here, they’re real names and common elsewhere.

Bodhi and Rocco (amongst others) have cropped up quite a few times on this thread... no really so unusual then!
