Hey, at least we've blessedly escaped L-a, whyvoanee, Femarlee and Chlamydia so far.

twattymctwatterson · 27/01/2019 18:04

It's been said before but these threads often do turn into "let's laugh at the African names"

Fuzzywig · 27/01/2019 17:48

Pebbles

This was about 10 years ago but the oddest name I have heard.

Also..

Raspberry

Theunreasonableone · 27/01/2019 10:53

Oak and Toadie. Two little boys.

Are these the boys on Our Family on Cbeebies? If so their names are Oak and Bodhi but in our family we call them Oaf and Toadie Grin

itisitis · 27/01/2019 10:03

My daughters class has a few strange ones:

Gunner
Boy
Phoenix
Will.I.Am (pronounced Willam)
Dakota
Beyoncé

And I live in a middle class town, where names are usually quite traditional 🙄

FairfaxAikman · 27/01/2019 10:00

Chaim...not sure about the spelling, but it sounds like "chain" except with an M at the end.

I'm guessing they'd only ever seen it written down? It's pronounced note like Ky-m (with a Scottish roll-at-the-back-of-the-throat sort of sound at the start)

CocoLoco87 · 27/01/2019 03:53

I'd only heard of Aspen on MN but last week I heard it in real life. Little girl was 2.

frogface69 · 27/01/2019 03:14

Oak and Toadie. Two little boys.

jessstan2 · 27/01/2019 03:07

I did come across someone who had two children called, "Blaze and Scarlett". They were lovely kids.

fermezzlabouche · 27/01/2019 03:04

I don't think Hunter is unusual, I know two. Also Jax I think it's becoming fairly popular. I've met a few.

Rocco- at baby clinic, sorry but it's absolutely awful
Fox
Ophelia (a friends child, I think it's lovely)
Juniper
Olive

Scandaloso · 27/01/2019 02:23

Isn't one of Pete Doherty's kids called Castiel? (no idea how I know that)

Doubt Pete is hanging out at too many toddler groups!

Scandaloso · 27/01/2019 02:21

Chaim is an old Hebrew name I think.

AuchAyeTheNo · 27/01/2019 02:18

LordPickle · 27/01/2019 02:18

Tbf to Arya it has it's own cultural back story totally seperate to GoT as it's a Hindu name. My friend's DD is Arya and will spend many years saying "No, not from GoT"

SleepingStandingUp · 27/01/2019 00:27

@castielchace DH banned Jared and Jenson too!! And Jareth for good measure.

Yeah, Winchester is a step too far, nn Chester or Winney? Wingey? Chesty? lol

Haworthia · 26/01/2019 23:26

Hector, which I loved.
Masun (aka Mason, which I didn’t)
Bluebell

I also know a little boy with a name so unusual I don’t know how to spell it. It sound like CLO-un.
I get an Irish vibe, but the other siblings have top ten, non-Irish kind of names so it threw me. If anyone can identify it, I’d love to know the spelling Grin

castielchace · 26/01/2019 23:22

@sleepingstandingup...you've got me supernatural fan😂I thought Winchester might be pushing it about so went with castiel. XX haven't met another yet but I'm sure it won't take long X didn't have the guts to use Lucifer though XX
