Frank? (Francis on birth cert, but never ever used).

It's a family name for both me and DP, and I thought it was just a nice, solid name. But yesterday someone told DP that it has sort of gangster, East London connotations ('like Frank Butcher' Hmm).

Have we missed something? Is Frank somehow beyond the pale? To be honest, it would take a lot to put us off it.

I love it, I think calling him Frankie when he's little is very sweet too.

One of my favourite names

RuthW · 17/01/2019 16:28

Absolutely love it.

No idea who Frank Butcher is but Frankie Fraser was notorious.

I like the name. Most names have bad ‘uns if you research enough.

Rainatnight · 17/01/2019 16:26

No, Frank is the main diminutive for Francis.

Frank and Francis seem completely different names..?!

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 17/01/2019 15:29

Prefer Frankie.
Francis is a family name for us, mine and dd's mn. Frances obviously.

My granddad was called Frank. We are in a race in my family to have a boy to name after him.
