DH chose daughters name, opinions please

I know it's two late to change my daughters name, and this is a pretty pointless post, but it will just confirm what I think people feel about my daughters name or not. DH named her.

I was very ill all throughout my pregnancy and after birth. DD didn't have a name for 4 weeks after birth, it was nearing the time to register her. I said that DH could name her. I was expecting him to let me know what he's decided before he registered her so I can give it the thumbs up or not. I wasn't going to be extremely picky, time wasn't on our side.

A few days later he came home and said that he registered DD. I asked what name he picked and he has picked Mackenzie-May (not actual spelling). I could write a whole page on how I felt about him registering her without even letting me know there was an appointment, or even letting me know her name! But this isn't a rant I was just wondering everyone's views on her name. Not something I would of gone for imo, but i now can't imagine her not being Mackenzie.

Hideous name honestly. Sounds American and low class.

Just May would have been lovely (imo).

I like either name on their own, together well double barrelled aren't my taste to say the least. I'd shorten to something like Maisie.

Mackenzie is fine. I’m not so keen on hyphenated names, but it’s okay.

@SimplyPut I want to but she's almost 17 months old so I see no point unless it's really as bad as feared Blush.

Erja, Either parent can register the birth on their own.

It's sweet! Agree with you about the May bit. Nicer on its own. Kenzi is lovely as a nn too.

Congratulations on your baby op.
It’s not my cup of tea - it will sound very dated in a few years, there are a lot of .......mai’s / mays around at the moment.
However if you like the name that is all that counts

to be brutally honest i find mackenzie to be quite a ‘chavvy’ name - but that might just be because the few mackenzies i know are the offspring of raging chavs. and although i think may is lovely, every second girl around here either has it as a middle name or as a hyphenated first name.

Don’t you have a time frame in which you can go and get the name changed tho?

I don't like calling her by her full first name because a) Mackenzie-may is a mouthful and a half and b) I hate the trend of adding may onto the end of every girls first name Blush
