Only thinking about TTC so not pregnant so I'm not attached to any of the names on my favourite list so be as judgemental as you wish!
These are currently my favourite names as I've been spending a few weeks flicking through websites.

Boys:
Clay
Eden (my current favourite)
Emrys
Eric
Iver
Magnus
Remus

Girls:
Frances
Hazel
Jovie
Mika
Quinn

I know they're not to everyone's taste and I do like unusual but not too strange (so point out if they are in fact too strange!)

The list will have probably changed when the actual time comes but just looking sharing my ideas!

I know a lovely boy Eden.

Norfolkbumpkins · 17/01/2019 22:02

Good list op. Eden to me is feminine though. Ivor and Jovie for me - love the nod to Elf!

Whothere · 17/01/2019 21:45

I only like Eden.

moredoll · 17/01/2019 21:44

Clay. No
Eden (my current favourite). Yes, quite cool for a boy
Emrys. I think I could like it. Eventually.
Eric. No
Iver. Ivor is good
Magnus. My favourite of your boys' names
Remus. Mmm. Might be great with a long Italian surname.

Frances. Love it. Love Frankie as a nn too.
Hazel. Yes, lovely
Jovie. Nope
Mika. Maybe
Quinn. I like it, I don't love it.

TheToffeeTruckinTown · 17/01/2019 21:35

I like Frances and Hazel. Of your boys names Clay is the best but not one I'd choose, although I would as a middle name.

Astronica · 16/01/2019 13:13

I love Magnus and Frances, and for 2nd choices, I like Remus and Quinn. Not so keen on any of the others.

OutPinked · 16/01/2019 12:22

Hazel is nice. Quinn is a boys name but I quite like it. The others not so much.

TatianaLarina · 16/01/2019 12:02

The only one I like is Magnus.

CaptainCabinets · 16/01/2019 10:53

Boys:
Clay - don’t mind it, but it’s very American.
Eden - only ever heard it for girls, not keen on it as a boy’s name.
Emrys - gorgeous name.
Eric - I like it!
Iver - I prefer the Ivor spelling. Or Ivo!
Magnus - I really like it, very Scandi.
Remus - I like it.

Girls:
Frances - cute.
Hazel - lovely.
Jovie - makes me think of Bon, or Zooey Deschanel in Elf.
Mika - not keen.
Quinn - my friend has a male greyhound named Quinn.

CakeRattleandRoll · 16/01/2019 10:36

Love Emrys. Magnus is cool too.
Hazel is lovely.
Prefer Francesca to Frances, also gives more choice of nn.
I would assume Eden was a girl.

Sessy19 · 16/01/2019 06:24

@Meesh77. Just because you haven’t heard the name doesn’t mean it’s not a name!!! Are you THE authority?!

BartonHollow · 16/01/2019 00:22

Eden is a lovely girls name

Remus is too Harry Potter

Clay is in the category of names that aren't and shouldn't be real names for me

Quinn is also

Hazel/Eric for me

Shadow1234 · 16/01/2019 00:20

Eden - love this for a girl
Emrys - my favourite on your boys list

MarchInHappiness · 16/01/2019 00:14

Clay - awful
Eden (my current favourite) - girls name imo
Emrys - love
Eric - ok but rather dated
Iver - just spell it Ivor ffs, not keen either way you spell it though
Magnus - alright
Remus - terrible, seems made up. I like Remy though.

Girls:
Frances - really do not like
Hazel - like
Jovie - really not keen, Bon Jovi
Mika - quite like this
Quinn - LOVE

Meesh77 · 15/01/2019 23:49

Some of them aren’t real names. Not recognisably so. I feel. Bit sorry for some kids who grow up with a weird name.

Frances and hazel are ok.

sue51 · 15/01/2019 23:47

I like Magnus from the boys list, Francis and Hazel from the girls. Quinn is awful.

Heratnumber7 · 15/01/2019 23:41

Clay - No
Eden (my current favourite) - girl's name
Emrys - are you Welsh?
Eric - lovely
Iver - do you mean Ivor?
Magnus - ok if you're from Iceland
Remus - ok if you're Harry Potters cousin

Frances - lovely
Hazel - lovely
Jovie - not a name
Mika - chocolate
Quinn - too much like quim

Inktank · 15/01/2019 23:25

Clay - mud
Eden - place name and sounds better as a girls name
Emrys - OK
Eric - great, laid back and retro in a good way
Iver - OK but would spell Ivor
Magnus - very nice, Scandi cool
Remus - Romulus and...

Frances - lovely
Hazel - not keen
Jovie - Bon
Mika - no
Quinn - no

Sophronia · 15/01/2019 23:11

Magnus and Frances are my favourites

Phoebesgift · 15/01/2019 21:44

I think they're all awful. Sorry.

erja · 15/01/2019 21:40

@Sessy19 you're saying that as I'm on S7 of One Tree Hill right in front of me now Wink my first time watching it!

OP posts:
Sessy19 · 15/01/2019 21:39

I like Emrys-brilliant name! Remus is cool, but perhaps a teeny bit dog-like. And Magnus is a recognisable boy’s name although I’m not too fussed about it.

I like boyish names for girls too, and would consider Quinn and Mika in that bracket. I was a One Tree Hill fan back in the day and liked the character Quinn. My late-aunt was Mika, Danish diminiutive for Michaela. Really not keen on Frances and Hazel Confused

erja · 15/01/2019 21:35

@Storybarn definitely wouldn't want a full Italian name, have no contact with Italian roots so it's just a name to me.

OP posts:
Storybarn · 15/01/2019 21:34

I'd go for an Italian first name as there are some lovely ones about.

Storybarn · 15/01/2019 21:33

Iver spelt Ivor the traditional way
Definitely not Clay as I think of lump of Clay

Hazel yes
Definitely not Jovie as I'd think of Bon Jovi
