what’s the consensus regarding the surname sharing two letters from the first name.

Examples are:
Freya Farmer

Heidi Hayden

Is that a no go? Too mean?

I love alliteration names my son has one and I’ve had lots of comments it sounds like a movie star name :)

I love illiterate names as long as they don't sound silly.

I knew a Val Valentine and it was only after he died I realised he was actually called Valentine Valentine (he was born on Valentine's Day).
I couldn't do that to my child but then again it didn't seem to do him any harm and he was a lovely man.

What's wrong with David Davies?
I think alliterative names can be good. They are often quite memorable too.
It didn't do Megan Markel, Harriet Harman, Sean Bean, and co any harm.

I would probably avoid the KK alliteration to avoid comparisons with the Kardashians.

My maiden name meant that I had two E's, it didn't flow and was hard to say. As long as it flows nicely then I think it's absolutely fine.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Neville Neville yet Grin alliteration is absolutely fine OP but there’s definitely some who’ve taken it to another level!

They sound fine. I’ve known a John Johnson and a Kenneth Kennedy though which both sound a bit much IMO. Similarly, a semi famous couple I follow on Instagram have a baby called Willow Wendy Wood which I love!

Many alliterative names do sound okay. Sometimes the rhythm and varied number of syllables in each name contribute to whether it works. I had an alliterative name before I married and hated it through school as I felt it drew attention towards me that I didn't want. I personally would avoid giving one to a child because of my own experience.

Alliteration names are fine imo.

However, id avoid when the first two letters are the same sound (eg. Skye Scott) or if the names end in the same sound (eg. Hayley Hartley) as they're a bit too same.

Alliteration can sound lovely if the beginning of the words are different, for example Scott Summers has s+c then s+vowel, it sounds better than Warren Worthington w+vowel then w+vowel again.

I don't like the alliteration TBH. It can sound a bit comic, like a cartoon character. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Peppa Pig.

Heidi Farmer sounds better to me than Heidi Hayden.

Depends on the name Roger Rogers would be ridiculous where as Catherine Carter is fine.
