Elliot or Linus?

We’re really struggling with boys names and have narrowed down lots of names that we liked but didn’t love down to Elliot or Linus. Which do you prefer? And opinions on both would be very welcome

Call him Dave and be done with it.

CeeCee88 · 15/01/2019 17:10

Linus all the way! Such a lovely name and most likely well less used in the UK than most other names mentioned. (Assuming you live in the UK and don't want your kid to share his name with half of the neighbourhood) :)

DimProblem · 15/01/2019 17:03

Theo here by a mile

Also Magnus which I desperately wanted for DS but was vetoed.

mangotrees · 15/01/2019 16:54

I like Ellis, a cross between Elliot and Linus!

GreenDinosaur · 15/01/2019 12:09

Another vote for Linus. Really cute on a little one but also works for a cool teenager and a respectable adult. 👍🏻

Icklepup · 15/01/2019 11:32

I like Linus..
Felix is also nice.

Lindy2 · 15/01/2019 07:38

I like Linus but Elliott is one of my favourite names.

Lipsticktraces · 15/01/2019 07:30

Emmett is a fab name as well.

In face Linus, Elliot and Emmett were all considered for my boy twinSmile

Lipsticktraces · 15/01/2019 07:29

Going against the grain here, but I love the name Linus. Elliot is quite cool too.

Not Theo. It’s getting really common!

Freyanna · 15/01/2019 03:05

Linus is ace. Love it.
Isaac, Theo, Felix and Elliot are all nice enough but not a patch on Linus.

AhoyDelBoy · 14/01/2019 12:50

Never heard the name Linus before, notvreally a fan. What about Emmett?

slappinthebass · 14/01/2019 12:47

Ooh I like Linus. Never come across one before. Theo I used to love in spite of its popularity but it's getting silly now how many there are. If you combine Theodore and just Theo on the name stats it would be significantly higher. There are so many of them.

NorthernRunner · 14/01/2019 10:33

I love Linus, I am a big peanuts fan and he is actually a great character 👍🏻

poochuspoochus · 14/01/2019 09:42

Love Linus. Not personally too keen on Elliot but it's not awful or anything.

MamaDane · 14/01/2019 08:52

Love Linus but would pronounce it Lee-noos rather than Lie-nuss.
If we have a boy we're probably naming him Isaac so obviously love that too.
Prefer Theodore to just Theo. Felix has always been a cat name to me Grin but it does mean lucky doesn't it? Not a bad name. Elliot is alright.

RedDwarves · 14/01/2019 08:44

I love Linus, but I know I'm in the minority.

I like Elliot too, but Linus will take the cake every time.

Shadow1234 · 14/01/2019 08:30

Love the name Elliot - my favourite on your list.

tammytoby · 14/01/2019 08:29

Linus is a great name!

I hate Issac and Theo is so boring.

Parthenope · 14/01/2019 08:08

Much prefer Linus.

AlocAcoc · 14/01/2019 08:06

What about Lucas?

Astronica · 14/01/2019 07:39

I much prefer Linus.

MargotLovedTom1 · 14/01/2019 07:10

I love Linus.
What about Milo?

sollyfromsurrey · 14/01/2019 07:09

Isaac, Elliot and Theo are way too common. I'd always avoid going for a name you are almost guaranteed to have to share with another kid in your child's class. Lesser used but still normal names are the way to go. Linus is not freaky like Bark or Thunder but also not common like Ollie, Hugo or Finn. Who the heck chooses a name knowing full well that loads of others will have the same name.
