Is this name too bonkers?!

My DH and I like the name for our second son. It is a catholic saints name. Just worried that it is a bit too bonkers!!

Definitely with an i or its like these names people randomly change letters in to make them 'different'.

There is a wee girl round here who thinks her name is 'Lindsey with a z' because her mum always has to spell out all the time after naming her Linzi.

I might be wrong but I have only ever seen it as Blaine.

I think it sounds a bit "rudeboy", sorry. Fine if you're nothing like that, or equally fine if you are and what to give your child a name that will be cool and streetwise for school.

Just my interpretation.

Please don't go with Blaise as suggested above, that is straight-up rudeboy, especially as "blaze" is used as a term to smoke weed.

I like it. There were 2 variations when I was at school. One boy called Blayne in my year and a Blaine in my brother's. I don't think it's too uncommon where we grew up.

Not my particular choice but an ok name and all the better for not being over used. I prefer the spelling with an i — somehow looks more pleasing.

I know 2 Blaine's, not popular here but not totally bonkers.
It was on my shortlist for DC1 but we had a little girl.

It's ok. There are 101 buildings and places with Blane in it around my area so it seems a little odd to me, but it has a nice sound.

I prefer Blaine. Also like Blaith - used to work with a nice Scottish Blaith.

It's very American

Blane was a Scottish saint .

I know several Blanes at different ages (in Scotland). Good name.

I immediately thought of Dunblane, then thought it was a bit weird to think of that, so I was both surprised and pleased others did too. Still odd though.

Anyway, tbh, I don’t like it, but it’s not ‘out there’ at all. I’d definitely spell it with the ‘i’ as many of us thought Dunblane and I’m sure that was simply the spelling.

I love Blake, which is weird as I don't normally like surnames as first names, but I think it's fab.

I like the spelling Blaine.

Also a pp mentioned Bllake - that's nice I love William Blake's poetry and art.
