But the thing about lilets is nonsense really. Lisette and lil let don't even rhyme. It just happens to start with 'l' and end in 'ette'. It's a pretty name, quite unusual in the UK. The short version would be 'Lise' not 'Liz'. Oh, are you all thinking it's pronounced 'liz-et'? It's not, it's 'lees-et' I always thought. Maybe that explains the weird reactions!

Lots of names end in 'et/ett' , especially French ones, there's Annette, Cosette, Mariette, Jeannette, Juliet/Juliette, etc, it's quite normal.

Cazastrophe · 13/01/2019 15:29

It’s not pretty. Does sound like Lilets unfortunately. And her nn would be Liz.

How about:
Elise
Eliza
Loretta
Betsy

RCohle · 13/01/2019 13:08

Yes, it's the Lillet / Cezerette connection I think.

Jessbow · 13/01/2019 09:57

Lisette is okay
Liselle is prettier

erja · 13/01/2019 09:36

Not my style, sorry!

Pemba · 13/01/2019 05:21

It's pretty. Don't know what people are on about with the tampon etc. comments. Are they thinking of lil lets ?

HappyGoLuckyGo · 13/01/2019 01:22

I know one! Hadn’t heard the name before I met her about 6 months ago. I like it, it’s pretty- but I can see where pp are coming from with the contraceptive/tampon comments 😂

grinchypants · 13/01/2019 01:20

I'm sorry op
It sounds like a type of contraceptive pill 🙈

Crankupthe · 12/01/2019 23:53

I have an Elise and I call her Lisette as a pet name sometimes

Marcipex · 12/01/2019 23:47

Love it.

Ihuntmonsters · 12/01/2019 22:13

It's one of the many diminutives of Elizabeth/ Elisabeth. Nice enough but I prefer Elisabeth.

RCohle · 12/01/2019 22:09

Is it "li" like the sound in lid or like leed?

It's nice enough but a bit contraceptive/tampon brand. I think it strikes a good balance between not being very common whilst not being ott yoonique though.

sue51 · 12/01/2019 19:44

It sounds pretty and feminine.

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/01/2019 19:44

I think it's lovely.

swapsicles · 12/01/2019 19:42

Kind of sounds like a brand of contraceptive

YepImafraidIchangeditagain · 12/01/2019 19:38

Sounds like the pill.

LuluBellaBlue · 12/01/2019 19:35

Love it 🥰

INeedNewShoes · 12/01/2019 19:33

The Lysette I know is spelt with a Y.

I think it's a nice name.

DramaAlpaca · 12/01/2019 19:32

I think it's too pretty actually, and a bit on the twee side.

But at least it's a bit different from the usual names you hear everywhere these days.

daisypond · 12/01/2019 16:57

Lisette is fine. It's a diminutive already, so not sure it needs shortening, but you could, of course.

ShadyLady53 · 12/01/2019 16:50

I like it. I know a little Nicolette and think that’s a lovely name...Lisette is even prettier sounding.

SawnUpLooRoll · 12/01/2019 16:47

Absolutely lovely. It would age well and can be shortened all sorts of ways if your DC would like to.

Aethelthryth · 12/01/2019 16:42

Horrible, twee, fake-French

comebacksoonsusan · 12/01/2019 16:39

I think it's a bit sanitary protection brand too.

buckingfrolicks · 12/01/2019 16:37

Lovely
