I am currently expecting a little girl and I am in love with the name Freya (her middle name will be Rose) but everyone I have told has said they hate it! I already have Dylan, Noah, Isabelle-mae and Olivia (hope this isn't outing) other than Freya the only other name I like is Evelyn or Evie, her middle name will be Rose regardless of first name.
Why are so many people not keen Freya?

It's a nice name. I've only ever met one despite its apparent popularity & she's in her twenties.

Icklepup · 06/01/2019 14:32

I like it and it goes well with your other children's names.

explodingkitten · 06/01/2019 14:27

I know a Freya. She is a lovely person. It's a good name.

MikeUniformMike · 06/01/2019 14:18

The first time I heard it I thought it was lovely but it is now overused.

Aridane · 06/01/2019 14:08

A pretty name but also the brand of a bra for the larger of boob

Notwiththeseknees · 06/01/2019 14:07

Freya is a beautiful name!

I think it's a lovely name and it's definitely not common where I live. I'm a teacher and have taught peripatetic in a number of schools across our local authority until a couple of years ago and have never taught one or known of one in any of the schools I've been in. Must just depend on where you are.

Thank you ladies that made me feel better. We have no Freya's in the school or nursery here but I wouldn't mind if there was one or two. I've never gone in for really unusual names but do try to avoid anything really popular (loved joshua for my eldest but there were 6 here) I love Astrid though thats beautiful

I think it’s a beautiful name but didn’t choose it for DD2 as there are several other Freyas in DD1’s nursery (I have a top 10 name and hate always having to add an initial or whatever to differentiate me!) plus DD1 is Astrid and wanted to avoid a pseudo-Scandi theme as we have no connections. Sod what other people think!

bigchris · 06/01/2019 12:42

It's very common round here

NeverSayFreelance · 06/01/2019 12:42

I've always loved the name Freya - but it's become so common these days I'm starting to go off it :( it's beautiful though!

Slippershoes · 06/01/2019 12:41

I love it, would have named dd Freya but it sounds really odd with my surname.

Toffeeandyawns · 06/01/2019 12:38

I’ve sleays like it. Just a lovely pretty name.

NWQM · 06/01/2019 12:37

Sounds beautiful to me

giantnannyknickers · 06/01/2019 12:36

*had the baby not hate the baby Grin

giantnannyknickers · 06/01/2019 12:35

I love it. As long as you like it who cares what people think. I've never told people before my kids were born and just announced the name when I hate the baby. That way no one will tell you why they think 😂

mumofbun · 06/01/2019 12:35

People might not like it as it is fairly common now - I love it but wouldn’t choose it for that reason! If you love it though then I think it’s lovely especially with rose Smile

Whisky2014 · 06/01/2019 12:30

I dont like it because I knew a freya and she was an arse. I like Evelyn.
