Axel is a Nordic name.

I don't think you could have Max 'n' Axel, Max and Ax, in all seriousness.

I know several Max and Sam combos, strangely enough.

From your list, I love Rory and Max.

All good names on your first list and they all sound like a brother of Max, so good choices there! I'm not keen on Eric or Logan though. My favourite is Rory.

Just a heads up, Prince Eric in Disney’s little mermaid had a dog called Max. I really like both names but it’s the first thing I thought of with those two names together but maybe that’s just me.

I think any from the list in your first post go really well with Max.

Especially Rory, another lovely strong name meaning 'red king'. It's my favourite of the bunch.

I also really like Logan. Eric wouldn't be a favourite of mine but it's good with Max.
