Please pick from:

Maria
Maia/maya
Lilia
Serena
Amelie
Lara

Please state why you prefer it?
And please also say which name you think is more of a timeless classic name that’s international.

Maria - lovely
Maia/maya - no because pronunciation is ambiguous
Lilia - no
Serena - lovely, but what if she's not? (serene)
Amelie - no
Lara - nice
Camilla - lovely

Lumpy76 · 27/12/2018 22:12

Lara - it’s my own name and has served me well. Only met a few others with the same name (I’m in my 40s). It doesn’t date and easy to learn to spell too!

LadyWithLapdog · 27/12/2018 21:44

Maya and Lara.

raffle · 27/12/2018 21:43

Maria or Serens

dillytilly · 27/12/2018 21:42

Lara is lovely! But Camilla and Amelie too! I would personally pick Camilla, maybe Camille or Millie as a nickname :)

2isabella2 · 27/12/2018 21:33

I like most of them and don't dislike any. Not as keen on Lara or Serena. I think Lillia is my favourite.

Didyeeaye · 27/12/2018 21:31

I like Maria the best. It really is a classic and truly international imo

AlliKaneErikson · 27/12/2018 21:11

Just to add to that, my Lara wishes I’d called her Larissa (although I’m glad I didn’t!).

AlliKaneErikson · 27/12/2018 21:10

Lara (my dd!).

champagneduvin · 27/12/2018 21:02

Sorry if I was to add Camilla to this list, which would there be a change in favourite?

Lara

ittooshallpass · 27/12/2018 19:08

Amelie - really pretty name; and none around here, so not overused at all!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/12/2018 12:50

Maria
Suits all ages.
Internationally known
Very pretty
Not too popular these days.

daisypond · 27/12/2018 12:26

Maria is the most timeless and classic and international. Serena and Lilia are nice too. Amelie is downmarket to me and dated. Lara is too bland, though if short for Larissa it's very nice. Anna?

chipsandgin · 27/12/2018 01:20

(always been top of my list but I only had boys!)

chipsandgin · 27/12/2018 01:20

Lara

Shadow1234 · 27/12/2018 01:18

Lara is my favourite - and I prefer it as a stand alone name. (not so keen on Larissa).

DramaAlpaca · 26/12/2018 22:10

Maria is the only one I'd call a timeless, international classic.

Lara is international & is my clear favourite. It's also a name in its own right, not just short for Larissa.

KarineAimee · 26/12/2018 19:25

Serena! I loved this and it was my first choice for DD but DH vetoed Sad
I like it because it has a lovely calm feel to it, but the link with Serena Williams also makes me think of a powerful woman.

MikeUniformMike · 26/12/2018 17:07

I had no idea that Lara is a diminutive of Larissa. I thought it was Russian for Laura. Most people will think Lara Croft or Julie Christie.

gillybombilly · 26/12/2018 16:44

Lara - beautiful
Amelie - lovely

ILoveChristmasLights · 26/12/2018 16:43

Amelie

Because I love it. Weirdly I don’t like any of the others at all (sorry).

champagneduvin · 26/12/2018 16:40

Wow seems like Lara is a winner! Is it being a “nickname” for Larissa make it feel a little incomplete as a full name?
