Boys names (shortened to something ending in "ie/y")

Hope my title makes sense 😂
Basically we are having a little boy, current names we love can all be shortened to more modern nicknames (Ernest/Ernie, Douglas/Dougie, Arthur/Artie, Albert/Albie)

Baby would probably be known more as nickname than christened name.

Any more ideas greatly received xx

@BertrandRussell this was our thinking, more choice when he's older too! X

Bear in mind that boys in my experience often drop the ei/y suffix so be sure you like the sort short version. So a Samuel known as Sammy as a child will often decide to be Sam as a teenager.

I really like the name Lonnie, which is usually used as a stand alone name (although it was originally shortened from Alonzo, I think).

James / Jamie is my favourite

Also

Oliver / Olly / Oli
Frederick / Freddy
Charles / Charlie
Edward / Teddy
Benjamin / Benji

Isn't it odd how common names when I was growing up sound wrong now?

Michael / Micky
William / Billy
Andrew / Andy

Though for double -y ending you could always go for:

Henry / Harry Grin
