Clara?

Dd is currently 10wks ( age 20 so I'm slightly less than enthused but happy for her non the less). She has a current track record for horrific names (for pets!), but I feel like I could get behind this for a girl... thoughts please?

Clara is a lovely name not super common but used on occasion.

No, no obviously not my choice! She ran the name past me as her current 1st choice and asked for my opinion so I'm throwing it out to a wider audience. By me getting behind it I really just mean I like it. I just wondered what other opinions are, as her friends have apparently been a bit 'meh which made her seek my opinion (I'm normally last on the list to be asked 😂).

Clara is nice - clarrr-a. I've never heard it pronounced Claire-a though, that's horrible and makes my toes squirm. The idea of it being pronounced Claire-a would put me right off using it. Does it really get pronounced like that?

Happilyacceptingcookies I disagree. I think with the popularity of Dr Who’s
Clarrr-a more people of this generation will use that pronounciation.
The Claire-a I know is named after a great grandmother.

I knew a Clara at school. She wanted to be a Claire-a but people pronounced it Clarrr-a.

Depends how much it would you annoy if mis-pronounced but I imagine it would happen quite often.

She going for the Clarrr-a pronunciation. I think it's nice in the current climate for bygone names without being another Ida, Eva, Rose? As lovely as I think they all are btw.

I know a few little Clara’s. I like it. 2 are pronounced Clarrr-a and one is Claire-a. I like both pronunciations.
