Atticus, is it too much?

We LOVE the name Atticus but we've been getting lots of negative feedback.
What are your opinions?

I'm not a fan, again go set a watchman would put me off as I have no other reference for the name.

I don't like any of the shortenings either, which may be problematic with a 3 syllable name.

I also live it Yorkshire where people drop the 't' sound so it really wouldn't work well around here!

I like it and almost called ds1 atticus. I've heard people talk about 'go set the watchmen' but haven't read it so that put me off a bit. But what really stopped me using it was I didn't like the nickname/shortening to 'atty'

I quite like it OP. I've heard of one other little Atticus (a boy) here in SE London. It does sound alike quite a trendy name I suppose but that doesn't put me off.

Pretentious to me, sorry.
Read Go Set the Watchman before you decide he's your hero. Harper Lee meant him to be a much more balanced character, originally. Noble but deeply flawed, too.

I think it is too much.

They will go through their whole life with:
either 'That's unusual, where does that come from?'
or 'So your parents were big To Kill a Mockingbird fans then?'
