Atticus, is it too much?

We LOVE the name Atticus but we've been getting lots of negative feedback.
What are your opinions?

I love it. I know one, who is DD1's age (yr 6) and it doesn't get shortened.

Way better than all the old-men names around now.

There are lots of toddlers in West London called Atticus. Seems popular here.

I know an Atticus and his parents call him Attie. I hate it.

Beautiful name. It shouldn’t matter what others think about it.
If you like the name, then go for it.

🤔 It’s awful to say but I think it entirely depends on your social situation and where you see him ended up in life?

In my office we have loads of similar names (Rupert, Giles, Arabella, Horatio, Tarquin) so it’s rather normal. My colleagues have kids with equally ‘out there’ names! We happen to live in an affluent area so it seems the schools (even state ones) are full of unusual names! So in that situation I think it’s a lovely name and he would ‘fit in’.

However, where I grew up (very working call northern town) you’d be laughed out of the room with a name like that! You’d be making him a target at school!

It really does depend on your local area/ social group!

If you really love it, I’d suggest it as a middle name? Whether it’s fair or not, it’s a name that will mark him out, for his whole life, and I wonder how he’d feel about it.

I really dislike it. I know a woman at work who has a son called Atticus and they call him “Atti” for short which is awful
